DVD Review: The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air: The Complete Fifth Season

Now, this is a story all about how
My weekend got flipped-turned upside down
This is ComicsOnline
Just sit right there
I'll tell you all about the season 5 set of Bel-Air

I unpackaged the boxset plastered with Will's face
I hadn't seen this season since my younger days
Chillin' out maxin' relaxin' all cool
Pop in Disc 1, playin' with the VLC tool
When a couple of things
Just weren't how the should
New mom, same name, in the neighborhood
Nicky's aged 4 years, I'm getting scared
They must put hormones in the water in Bel-Air!

I looked at the menus and read them all clear
There are no bonus features to enjoy up in here
If anything I could say this box set is rare
Seriously, not one bonus feature on season 5 of Bel-Air??

I put on the show, watched 7 or 8 or…
Oh it's ANOTHER Lisa episode, I guess I'll watch it later
I popped in disc 3
I was finally there
About to be done with The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air!

Just in case your cable provider doesn't carry WGN, TBS, Nick at Nite, The N, ABC Family, Disney XD, BBC Two, Virgin 1, or YTV, Warner Brother has just release The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air: The Complete Fifth Season on DVD. Yes, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, actually did run for five stupid-deaf seasons (six, in fact!) and you can enjoy all your favorite season five episodes packed into one three-disc set. Before you get all judgmental about the later episodes, this season is full of classic Banks family moments.

Remember when Ashley became an over-night R&B sensation? Season 5. 'Member when Will totally fell in love with Lisa? Season 5. Remember when Will straight up got shot? Season 5. Remember when Will, Carlton and Jazz got trapped in the elevator and had to relive some of their favorite moments from the past four seasons? Season 5. Remember when Will bet Carlton that he couldn't stay a weekend at Jazz's Compton apartment and Carlton did and became a total G? That was Season 1, but it was still awesome.

So come on, ComicsOnline Reader, you remember watching those classic episode reruns late at night. You were like, “Dude, leave it on at least for the theme song”, and then watching the entire episode. You're not too cool for the Fresh Prince and, admit it, you still like it in a genuine, un-ironic way. The quality of the show really didn't fade too much throughout the entire run and the sure-thing gags of the first season, like will breaking the 4th-wall, still seem new and, dare I say… FRESH.

Special Features:

*crickets*

Seriously, there isn't a single special feature to be found. Not even a “Stills Gallery” or “Original Theatrical Trailer”… Nothing.

Overall:

If you already own Seasons 1-4 of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, then I'm going to go ahead and say this box set is for you! If not, you're going to have to make up your own mind. The complete lack of any bonus content is kind of a let down but the show is still great and full of nostalgia for us “Generation Born-In-The-80s” kid. This box set would be much better suited somewhere like Hulu, streaming on NetFlix or cluttering up your DVR for months.
