It was the move that did exactly what it was supposed to do, which is get people talking. This morning Man of Steel 2 cinematographer Larry Fong tweeted a picture of a playing card, face side down, embedded in a concrete pillar. What does it mean? How did it get there and who put it there? We can’t see what card it is, so it’s ambiguous, it could mean anything! To the Batcave, there are conclusions to be jumped to!
The big jump many are making is that this is a tease that the Joker may be making some sort of appearance in Man of Steel 2: The Search of Batman’s Gold (That’s the title that won the internet right? Or was is Man of Steel 2: Electric Boogaloo?) the upcoming squeal/installment in DC’s nascent mega franchise.
Or maybe it means the Royal Flush Gang is in it, doing their bank robbing thing? Is it Zatanna, wielding a deadly version of pick a card, any card? Or even that Superman has a low threshold for boredom and terrible aim at the tossing cards into a hat game? It could be anything, which I guess was the point. Right now it remains a mystery and except for maybe cat pictures and porn there is nothing the internet loves more than a chance for wild speculation.
