Book Review: The Complete Guide to Self-Publishing Comics: How to Create and Sell Comic Books, Manga, and Webcomics

Complete Guide to self publishing comics

by Emil Favila, Reporter

We recently received The Complete Guide to Self-Publishing Comics: How to Create and Sell Comic Books, Manga, and Webcomics in the mail and wanted to check it out.  It’s not tough to figure out what the book is about and that’s just fine with us at ComicsOnline.  Straight to the point!

Comfort Love and Adam Withers are the power couple behind this awesome “how to” book.  Even if you don’t have plans yourself to publish a comic, it is still an interesting read.  Inside, the reader is provided step by step instructions and tips on how to get your comic noticed and published.  With advancements in technology,  social media and the rising popularity of comics as a medium, the authors walk you through taking control of your destiny as a comic book creator.  Everything from lettering, coloring, scripting, art, and to the final publish and distribution are covered and explained right here.

Self-Publishing Comics is the real deal.  If it wasn’t then I doubt the likes of Mark Waid (Star Wars: Princess Leia), Adam Warren (Dirty Pair), Scott Kurtz (PVP), and Jill Thompson (Sandman) would be chiming in to contribute their wisdom and perspective.  Self-Publishing Comics belongs in the same category as the highly acclaimed book by Brian Michael Bendis book Words for Pictures: The Art and Business of Writing Comics and Graphic Novel, which we reviewed earlier last year.

If you are serious about making comics, then I would suggest you pick up your copy of The Complete Guide to Self-Publishing Comics: How to Create and Sell Comic Books, Manga, and Webcomics today off Amazon.
