Event Review: HeroesCon 2015

by Joe Iconic, Reporter

HeroesCon 2015 continued its tradition of being the premier regional family-friendly comic book convention on June 19-21 at the Charlotte Convention Center.

In 1962, Stan Lee created Spider-Man,  a superhero relatable to readers worldwide.  So it was fitting that Stan Lee was the headliner of this year’s convention.  In its thirty-third year, HeroesCon is well known for having unparalleled access to many of the best writers, creators, and artists in the industry.

This year also included many Spider-Gwen cosplayers and fans, in tribute to Spider-Gwen’s writer Jason Latour and colorist Rico Renzi, both Charlotte-based.

Kudos to Shelton Drum, convention organizer and local comic books industry legend, for another fun, fantastic, fan-favorite convention!

Moon Key and Ghost Rider shared their cosplayer pictures from HeroesCon below.

Joe is a husband, #girldad, and Orphan of Apollo. He has drawn critters since riding the bus in 5th grade, and they have appeared on notes to loved ones, graffiti in a Latin classroom (sorry Rev. Dr Clark!), training slides for work, a newsletter in Alaska, and notes to his wife Tracy, who encouraged him to share them with the world. Contains pop culture references, stuff from the news, but mostly bad dad jokes.
