Kings Road #1

Kings Road

By Ben “Zombie” Bedgood

Kings Road is fairy tales colliding with reality. It’s forty-eight pages of a runaway train ride of excitement and action.

Dark Horse gives us a beautifully written story in the new miniseries Kings Road. From the first cell of page one you find yourself pulled into the midst of a fantasy war that has invaded the “real world.” This story is written in a way that you find yourself pulled in and begging for more. It has everything you would hope to expect from a medieval fantasy tale. Treason, assassination, endangered royal bloodlines, magic, evil witches, and the quintessential tragically confused teenager.

The art style utilized an almost blurred and rough look early on. As the story became a bit clearer, so did the cells and art, utilizing visual aspects to help convey the emotional standpoints of the story. It is something I find to be sadly not done nearly enough in the comic industry. With solid inking, coloring and overall illustration, King’s Road helps us to truly believe that the world, as we know it, is being invaded by dark evil creatures that are out to finish a blood feud started in another world very different from our own.

With a solid action packed story and page after page of beautifully crafted illustrations. I’m left anxiously awaiting to see what King’s Road has to offer in the rest of this series. I highly recommend you go buy it, seriously why are you still reading this and not buying it right now?
