SDCC 2016: Archer Live! Event

Archer Live

by Matt Sernaker, Managing Editor

San Diego Comic-Con 2016 just wrapped, and ComicsOnline is back with more exclusive coverage! Once the convention floor closed on Thursday night, we headed out into the danger zone with the cast of Archer for a very special event called Archer Live! A select group of fans (and press) were invited to board the Inspiration Hornblower Yacht, and kicked off the evening with complimentary food and drinks.

Once all of the attendees were on the ship, we headed upstairs to the deck to join the cast for the main event. The whole cast was in attendance, including H. Jon Benjamin (Sterling Archer), Aisha Tyler (Lana Kane), Judy Greer (Cheryl Tunt), Chris Parnell (Cyril Figgis), Amber Nash (Pam Poovey), Lucky Yates (Krieger), series creator/executive producer Adam Reed (Ray Gillette), and a slightly late Jessica Walter (Malory Archer).

After a drunken sing-along with Archer himself, the cast kicked off a stage reading of their recent “Vision Quest” episode (the one where they were trapped in the elevator). With a little help from special guest narrator Christian Slater (Slater), and two audience members acting as Milton and the 911 Responder, the gang made their way through the fan-favorite episode.

This was definitely a special night for fans of the show, and one that we won’t soon forget. If you ever get the opportunity to join the cast for a live reading, make sure you say yes immediately.

Thanks again to the team at FX for the opportunity to join for this special night.

(Managing Editor/Director of Media Relations) Matt interviewed MacGyver once (true story), and was invited on a submarine to the Arctic. It hasn't happened yet, but Matt hopes that some day he will get the call and he and Richard Dean Anderson will go off and have a wacky adventure.
