Movie News: Transformers: The Movie returns to theaters on September 27!

by Matt Sernaker, Managing Editor

On August 8th, 1986, the Autobots valiantly took their fight with the Decepticons to the big screen. On September 27th, 2018, fans will be given the chance to see this cult classic film in a new and exciting way. The remastered edition of Transformers: The Movie (as previously released on Blu-ray by Shout! Factory for the 30th anniversary) will be in theaters for one night only and ComicsOnline has the details (along with some special extras for our readers).

Transformers: The Movie was my favorite childhood film. I’ve seen this film more times than I can count. I burned through at least two copies of the VHS tape when I was a kid (80s and 90s kids know all about this problem), and I’ve purchased each iteration of the Anniversary releases on DVD over the years as well. When I say that the 30th Anniversary release from Shout! Factory is an astounding step up from any previous edition, you know that it is coming from someone who has a long history and deep appreciation for this film.

Check out the details and some special videos below.

(Managing Editor/Director of Media Relations) Matt interviewed MacGyver once (true story), and was invited on a submarine to the Arctic. It hasn't happened yet, but Matt hopes that some day he will get the call and he and Richard Dean Anderson will go off and have a wacky adventure.
