ComicsOnline kicked off 2026 by reading a TON of comics. There’s a lot to talk about, and we wanted to highlight some of our picks for the week of April 22nd, 2026.

- Miles Morales (Spider-Man) teams with Superman, as Bendis and Pichelli re-team!
All this, and more than a few super-surprises you’ll be talking about for the next fifty years!
Review: Perfection. Spider-Man/Superman was just phenomenal. Marvel & DC continue to raise the bar with their crossover events, and this new release is just as impressive as the Superman/Spider-Man installment. Meltzer and Larraz crafted a sensational story for our heroes in red and blue, and the ending will leave you with ALL THE FEELS. Johns and Frank provided my next favorite from the batch, with wonderful inclusions of Green Lantern, Stargirl, and more for a Superman/Thing story that will pull at your heartstrings. For my third pick, Bendis and Pichelli come together for a moment with Miles and Clark that provides a perspective that we’ve never heard before from big blue. Honorable mention goes to Kelly and Ramos for the Gwen Stacy/Lana Lang conversation that perfectly encapsulates both Clark and Peter’s struggles with civilian life. We can only hope that the two industry titans will continue to do these types of events on a more regular basis, because they are providing us with some of the best stories of the year.

Green Lantern #34
Rating:

by Matt Sernaker
Official Synopsis: COME TO CALIFORNIA, THEY SAID… TRACK DOWN INTERGALACTIC PRISON ESCAPEES, THEY SAID…
Kyle Rayner is back in L.A., and he’s not alone — the precog thief known only as Odyssey the Time Bandit is along for the ride! But is Odyssey really bad to the bone… or does she hold a devastating secret that only Kyle Rayner can help her with? Kyle traverses a job, a mentorship, murderous aliens by the dozen, and… a wrestling federation? No…no no no… please don’t tell us Jeremy is bringing Omega Bam Man back… Guest-starring the Flash, if you’re into that sort of thing!
Review: Kyle is back in the lead! Our favorite superhero artist is hanging out in LA and hunting down alien fugitives. We’ve got Wally and Odyssey along for the ride, and our heroes get to experience a true taste of the great Hollywood adventure in this new installment. Meanwhile, Hal and Jayna have escaped the Manhunters, but now find themselves on an alien world with the newest incarnation of the Guardians of the Universe in pursuit. What exactly does the Book of OA want Hal to do…? Big cosmic adventures await in Green Lantern.
As much as I’m loving this story, I will say that I was a bit thrown by the new art style for this issue. We’ve seen several talented artists contribute to the series since the DC ALL In launch, but this new approach from the combined forces of Ig Guara and Montos felt a bit too cartoony in comparison to recent books. Although it’s not a deal-breaker, it just wasn’t my preferred style for the GL Universe, and it really is the only reason why it didn’t get a higher score from me.

Event Horizon: Inferno
Rating:

by Matt Sernaker
Official Synopsis: It’s Aliens meets Dante’s Inferno! Space marines clash with demons aboard the Event Horizon in this follow-up to the biggest horror comic of 2025!
In 2040, the starship Event Horizon disappeared. Seven years later, it returned possessed by a demonic entity. After murdering its rescue crew, it was blown in half, with the front of the ship left yearning for its heart: a gravity drive designed for interdimensional travel. Two hundred years later, a billionaire brings his own private star fleet to the wreckage around Neptune. He’s heard stories of the Event Horizon and will gleefully sacrifice any number of employees to uncover its secrets!
Christian Ward (Event Horizon: Dark Descent, Two-Face) returns to the Event Horizon, joined by superstar sci-fi artist Rob Carey (Outsiders, Aliens: Resistance) to tell another story spun out of the cult-classic film! Hell is only a word. The reality is much, much worse.
Review: In a nutshell, Event Horizon: Inferno captures that edge-of-your-seat feeling that we loved from the original film. I’m not typically the type that goes for horror stories, but this was worth the price of admission. I’m not sure where this story is going, but much like the movie, I have a feeling that readers are in for a wild ride filled with horrific twists.
