Blu-ray Review: Cop Out

Yippie-ki-yay, mother phoner! Sometimes the release of movies are impeccably timed with just the right holiday. You have your Christmas films released on Thanksgiving weekend, your horror films released for Halloween, and then you have your Kevin Smith film that…

DVD Review: G.I. Joe: The Movie

"Do as you're told like an obedient lackey!"

After the opening credits to G.I. Joe: The Movie, with possibly the most obnoxious earworm of a theme song ever playing in the background, we see a masked woman appear from the water and basically kick ass all the way through Serpentor’s army until she’s face-to-face with the serpent master himself.  Who is this woman and what does she want from Cobra?

CC2010: Preview Night Exclusive

While the outside of the convention center was lined with anxious people who never knew which line to get into, indoors was a little bit more relaxed. Because the Exhibit Hall didn’t open until 6, upstairs seemed like the place to be.  Under The Sails was crowded with people getting their badges, getting limited Comic-Con bags (those were even bigger than some people, including me), and walking around the freebee tables, looking for anything and everything happening at Con.

CC2010: My Preview Night

ComicCon has offically started! Preview Night started out crazy and hectic as usual with people running around trying to register and avoid very long lines and security guards yelling in different directions telling everyone where to go. People were everywhere at once trying to get their badges, and until the Dealer Floor opened at six, it looked like Under the Sails was going to be the most crowded place. Once you got registered you got a big ComicCon bag with a tv show on it. We looked and fought for a Chuck bag and didn’t stop until we got one.

PC Game Review: Sam and Max, Episode Four: Beyond the Alley of the Dolls

I remember when I was a toaster…

That crazy anthropomorphic duo is at it again with episode four of the Sam and Max series, Beyond the Alley of the Dolls!  So far, they’ve dealt with nutty alien ape generals and narcissistic boy pharaohs – what’s next for the snarky crime-solvers?

DVD Review: 2001 Maniacs: Field of Screams Unrated

1864, April 22. I remember that day like it was yesterday. A renegade troop of northern soldiers fighting the so called “Civil War” raped our women, murdered our children, even took out my God damn eye. I can still hear granny’s cries as they burned Pleasant Valley to the ground. They killed us all, doomed us to a life in limbo. Nothing more than ghosts seeking revenge. Guess that’s the way the good Lord wants it; eye for eye, tooth for tooth, as the Old Testament says. One thing’s for certain, our souls ain’t ever gonna find rest 'til all 2001 are avenged.

Blu-ray Review: Ladybugs

My name is Chester.  I'm great, I'm wonderful, everybody likes me!

Ladybugs
has all the markings of a cheesy 1990s movie – awful floral dresses and shoulder pads run amuck and the soundtrack is delightfully tacky.  There’s a cute teen boy with a mischievous grin trying to impress the girl he likes and cliched objectifications of women.  And Rodney Dangerfield.  And his lack of respect, obviously.
