Ladybugs has all the markings of a cheesy 1990s movie – awful floral dresses and shoulder pads run amuck and the soundtrack is delightfully tacky. There’s a cute teen boy with a mischievous grin trying to impress the girl he likes and cliched objectifications of women. And Rodney Dangerfield. And his lack of respect, obviously.

To those who don’t know me, I love Pokémon. It’s been a part of my childhood and many others who were hit by the phenomenon when it started in 1998. To this day, I cannot resist playing and awaiting new games involving these little critters. I can now say I have witnessed something that could be the start to revolutionizing the way Pokémon fans have battled, making it as close to realistic as it does to the Anime.
