Mister Sparta’s Creature Feature: Review of “The Ward”

DVD Review: Fragile: A Ghost Story

I think labeling this as a horror film is really doing it a disservice. It’s more of a psychological drama, really [as I’m noticing tends to be the theme among Spanish horror films (the writer/director and most of the production staff are Spanish) – Korean and Japanese horror films are known for their hair-raising, blood-chilling ghost stories, and Spanish horror films tend to be more about the characters – about the people and the emotion and the story to be told by the characters, superimposed over some moments of terror]. And at that, it excels.

DVD Review: Frankenstein’s Army

Nazis have long been one of Hollywood’s favorite movie villains. So what’s worse than a Nazi? How about a Nazi Zombie Robot? You might be asking yourself ‘Can it be done?‘ In fact, it can. Let’s check out Richard Raaphorst’s Frankenstein’s Army to find out how.

Blu-ray Review: 6 Souls

It might not have been quite what I signed up for, but it was still a pretty good ride by the time I’d reached the end. The plot doesn’t smash you upside the head with the paranormal the way other films in the genre sometimes do. In fact, the paranormal elements really don’t come into full play until almost three quarters of the way through the movie. I’d venture into saying that up until that point, Moore’s character doesn’t even believe them to be occurring (and not in the way some horror films fall prey to, with her disbelieving things that are right in front of her).

DVD Review: The Collection

The previous movie told the tale of Arkin, a petty thief who agreed to break in to one more house in order to help his ex-wife out of a financial scrape. The problem is that he isn’t the first intruder. The serial killer known simply as The Collector has booby trapped the house in order to have his way with the homes inhabitants. He’s called The Collector because he keeps one person from each invasion in a trunk. Guess how Arkin makes it to the sequel?

Comic Book Review: Thicker Than Water

By Jayden Leggett, Assistant Editor A fairytale strictly aimed at mature readers, Thicker Than Water is definitely not a fable suitable for children. For fans of B-grade slasher films however, this book should be right up their alley… Written and…

Blu-ray review: Werewolf: The Beast Among Us

by Chris Learned Kane,  Reporter It could be that one of the first movies to ever really scare me was a werewolf movie (An American Werewolf In London) or it could be that weary contrarian motif in my life, but…
