Blu-ray Review: Stargate Ark of Truth

For ten amazing years viewers had the privilege of watching the adventures of the military team known as SG-1 travel through the Stargate and travel to new worlds. Then, during the filming of their 200th episode, the staff was notified that the show would not be returning for an 11th year. That would have been good to have known earlier because the team on the show had introduce a new villain called the Ori who were more powerful than any other villain Earth had faced. In order to finish the story and continue the adventures of SG-1 MGM and Fox did the only thing they could: Make a movie! Stargate: The Ark of Truth was released last year as a Direct to DVD feature length film and has finally made its way to Blu-ray!

Blu-ray and DVD Review: Hulk Vs!

Lighting strikes twice with the new dual disc DVD and Blu-ray releases of Hulk Vs. Marvel is kind enough to give us not one, but two different battles featuring the Hulk Vs Wolverine and the Hulk Vs Thor!

Hulk Vs Wolverine
Based on the trailer that Lionsgate released, we were lead to believe that this movie would focus on the original story of Hulk Vs Wolverine from Hulk 181 (which was Wolverine’s first appearance). In reality, the film is a great fight between the two character but has a different focus:

DVD Review: Pineapple Express

From the creators of Superbad and Knocked Up comes the new comedy Pineapple Express which is now available on DVD!

Story

The film tells the story of Stoner/Process Server Dale Denton (Seth Rogen) who delivers a subpoena to accused Drug Lord Ted Jones (Gary Cole). Denton catches Jones in the act of murdering someone and takes off from the scene, but in the process ditches a roach at the scene of the crime. Well, this was not any ordinary weed mind you, this was the incredibly rare strain called “Pineapple Express”. Jones is able to identify the roach and tracks down a man named Red (Danny McBride), who happens to be the only distributor of Express in town. Red gives in and reveals that he has only sold it to a burnt out named Saul Silver (James Franco). Dale has of course fled to Saul’s place to hide and is immediately found by Jones’ men (Craig Robinson and Kevin Corrigan) and hilarity ensues.

The Batman is Dead. Rest in Peace Bruce Wayne…

Today is a tragic day my friends. It is the day the Batman died. Not in a monumental way, but as a gimmick to sell books. He dies in a book where he is only scene for 5 pages total…5. The death of the Dark Knight should have been more massive. I don’t think its right that we have to sacrifice Bruce in order to have Barry Allen alive in the comics. Its not a fair trade. At all. RIP Bruce. You will be missed.

But my dad had this to say:

If Jason Todd is not dead, then Bruce Wayne IS NOT DEAD.

If Barry Allen is not dead, then Bruce Wayne IS NOT DEAD.

If the New Gods are not dead, then Bruce Wayne is NOT DEAD.

If Hal Jordan is not dead, then Bruce Wayne is NOT DEAD.

and if Superman is not dead, then Bruce Wayne IS. NOT. DEAD.

Blu-ray Review: Eagle Eye

The world is a much stranger place than we give it credit for. We each live in our own personal bubble and sometimes don’t realize that things are out of our control. We place a lot of value on technology that makes our lives easier. It is easy to take that technology for granted. What happens when that technology is placed in the wrong hands? Welcome to Eagle Eye, the techno-thriller film from Director DJ Caruso. This new action film is now available on Blu-ray and DVD!

Blu-ray Review: The Dark Knight

“Best. Batman. Movie. Ever.”

The Dark Knight is a record destroying movie. Not only has it killed at the box office and has either been nominated or won awards, it has also smashed the Blu-ray release record. Why has this movie become such a success? Because it’s EPIC. Truly epic. This movie isn’t just about Batman, it is really about the world that he exists in and the influence he has on that world. We get to care more about the characters on a level that we never have seen before. Christian Bale returns as Bruce Wayne / Batman in Christopher Nolan’s second Batman epic: The Dark Knight which is now available for you to own on Blu-ray!

DVD Review: Spin City Season One

It was 1996, and Michael J. Fox had left television for movies. His career was waning, and it seemed like he was going to be relegated to lesser, direct-to-video releases. In comes Gary Goldberg and DreamWorks with a new television series. This series was Spin City, and it aired on ABC Tuesday nights. Spin City: The Complete First Season was recently released on DVD and collects the entire first season, including the pilot onto DVD.

Spin City was about the deputy mayor of New York City, and his day to day life where he practically ran the city under a pretty much incompetent mayor, and wacky staff.

Episode Highlights:

“Prototype”: Pilot – City Hall has to deal with a garbage strike going on, and an insensitive comment that the mayor makes toward gay people.
