by Maju Marfori, Reporter

Rainbow Rocks!!!
Rainbow Rocks!!!

Rock and Roll!!!!

What do you get when you combine Ponies, Unicorns, Pegasus, High school and Rock and Roll? Well, you get one heck of a good time. That’s what happened to my daughter and I when we watched My Little Pony Equestria Girls: Rainbow Rocks. My Little Pony is one of my daughter’s favorite series.  As we have been watching it together, it reminded me when I was a kid. My Little Pony has the same feel as Tiny Toon and Care Bears. Yes, that’s right. I am a dude and I liked Care Bears.

My Little Pony Equestria Girls: Rainbow Rocks is a continuation from the first movie. In the previous movie, My Little Pony Equestria Girls, follows the adventure of Twilight Sparkle, as she becomes a princess of Equestria. One night as she went to sleep having a hard time adjusting to being an Alicorn, a mysterious pony steals her crown and travels to the world of humans. My Little Pony Equestria Girls: Rainbow Rocks once again follows the adventures of Twilight as she and her friends join together to stop another treat in Canterlot high.

(SPOILER ALERT!!!)

Canterlot High is back with new adventures and Rock and Roll. The school is having a musical showcase and bringing the old gang back together. Rainbow Dash, Apple Jack, Rarity, Pinkie Pie, and FlutterShy start a band. As the school prepares for the showcase, three mysterious sisters who feeds on magic arrive at the school following the scent of magic. With the sisters causing chaos within the school and the  student body, the Gang calls upon help from Twilight Sparkle.  They used Sunset Shimmer’s old book, which Princess Celestia and her use to communicate with each other. Once Twilight discovers the message, she departs once again to the human world, with her trusty sidekick Spike to save Canterlot High from evil.

Highlights:

The three siren sisters visit the school of Canterlot after finding out that the school had some magic flowing. They go to the cafeteria and start singing, causing more mayhem with the student body.

The sirens try to convince Sunset Shimmer to join them, then she discovers that friendship was more important than ruling over others.

Twilight has arrive back to the human world, as her friends were waiting for her at the statue, which is a doorway to the Equestria world. The girls has Twilight join the band to help fight the Sirens in the Battle of the Bands.

Audio & Video:

As a cartoon, the colors and the flow of the movie goes smoothly, as if it was a 3D like movie in 2D. The sounds and songs are clear and crisp with its 5.1 surround sound. Even though my hearing isn’t that great, the audio is excellent, and I heard and understood everything they said and sang.

Special Features:

The disc contains 8 prequel episodes showing how the girls are able to use their powers. On top of these prequels, the bonus feature of this Blu-Ray/DVD is an audio commentary. For the people who likes to sing (like myself), My Little Pony Equestria Girls: Rainbow Rocks also has 3 sing a long videos, such as the Rainbooms Battle songs.

Overall:

As I’ve said before about My Little Pony, it is a wonderful show. Full of fun and song vibe on top of that it has lessons to be learned by the viewers from what is right and wrong, to friendship and love that can always help you get through the tough times. My Little Pony Equestria Girls: Rainbow Rocks is a good movie for all ages. Even though it is targeted for the younger crowd, teens and adults can also enjoy it. It has a great story line, great songs that you can rock or dance to and the lessons that teach you about confidence and the power of friendship. If you haven’t seen this show before. My Little Pony Equestria Girls: Rainbow Rocks is a good place to start.
