Comic Book Reviews: Week of 3/04/2026

ComicsOnline kicked off 2026 by reading a TON of comics. There’s a lot to talk about, and we wanted to highlight some of our picks for the week of March 4th, 2026.

Radiant Black #40
Rating: ★★★★☆
by Matt Sernaker

Official Synopsis: For months now, Marshall has been the one and only Radiant Black, constantly striving to be better, to do better, to be the hero Chicago deserves.

Review: The Radiant Black creative team never ceases to impress. For the last five years, the Massive-Verse has consistently delivered hit after hit, and this latest chapter is just another check in the win column. They say to write about what you know, and since the writers are originally from Chicago, it means that the city and the surrounding suburbs have taken quite a beating as the setting for our favorite superhero. Marshall has continued to fight for his hometown and make a difference as the singular Radiant Black, and now he’s put in the awkward position of facing down corrupt government officials and their new super-powered task force. Oh, and everyone still hates him because of the whole alternate timeline evil doppelgänger thing… It might just be another day in the life of Radiant Black, but the parallels to real-world issues have been integrated with care and tact. If you aren’t reading this book, there’s never a bad time to get caught up on this fan-favorite original series.

Batman #7
Rating: ★★★★★
by Matt Sernaker

Official Synopsis: As Batman is beckoned to Arkham Towers by the mysterious man in Room Ten, nothing will prepare him for who he finds there. Some might call him the Caped Crusader’s archnemesis. Others might call him Batman’s best friend. Everyone calls him the Joker.

Review: This Batman run is simply incredible. While reading this issue, I realized why I enjoy this particular creative team so much. Batman feels like a clever return to the more episodic approach to comics that has been missing since the 90s. Ever since Ultimate Spider-Man launched the six-part stories, the industry has trended toward massively deconstructed stories told over multiple issues. This book hits thanks to the “villain of the week” installment and a narrative through-line to a broader story (a la the television model). As a whole, this series makes me feel like I’m a kid getting up on Saturday mornings to watch Batman: The Animated Series, and that is the greatest compliment that I can offer. Beyond the series’ structure, I loved the innovative approach to the physicality of this chapter. Leveraging a double-page spread that actually leads to a gatefold was innovative as hell, and the execution was just stunning. Once again, we are treated to a killer cliffhanger that could be a game-changer for the Dark Knight.

DC K.O. #5
Rating: ★★★★★
by Matt Sernaker

Official Synopsis: THE FINAL BATTLE FOR THE HEART OF APOKOLIPS! In the melee that started with dozens of heroes and villains vying for their chance to win the ultimate power in the universe, now only one remains! But to truly be crowned the King Omega, you must battle more than the obstacles in your path… you must battle yourself. It’s the finale to end all finales as the one true champion is crowned, the fate of all that lives hangs in the balance, and a shocking decision will bring the DC Universe to the next level. We would type more, but honestly, anything else is a spoiler — so suit up, get ready, and leap into the final round!

Review: The boss fight is here, and man, was that worth the wait! The battle against Darkseid takes yet another crazy turn, and the final battle and universe-shaking outcome is sure to have interesting repercussions as we lead into DC’s Next Level event (a.k.a. ALL IN – ACT II). You might think you know where the story is going, but the creative team pulled out all the stops for the final round. No spoilers on this one, but DC easily continues their winning streak for events with the culmination of DC K.O.

Power Rangers Prime #15
Rating: ★★★★☆
by Matt Sernaker

Official Synopsis: The LEGION RAVAGER has arrived! In this penultimate chapter of the Prime Power Rangers’ adventures, our heroes must fight for their lives against a dangerous new villain who miiiiiiight just be a familiar face to fans of the Zeo Rangers… As tensions rise and family bonds reach a breaking point, the Prime Rangers are tested as never before. Will they find courage in the face of a galactic threat to fight for each other and their home? Superstar writer Melissa Flores (Mighty Morphin Power Rangers) alongside acclaimed artist Federico Sorressa (Green Hornet/Miss Fury) raise the stakes for this iconic franchise!

Review: Growing up in the 90s, you couldn’t tear me away from watching the latest episode of Power Rangers. When it looked like Lord Zedd and Rita had finally won by blowing up the Command Center, the Rangers leveled up to their first major series shake-up with Power Rangers ZEO. One of the highlights from that season was the introduction of the Gold Ranger, a mysterious alien named Trey from Triforia that could split into three beings. This all eventually led to Jason returning and taking on the powers temporarily, but the character’s entrance and the transfer of powers marked a major milestone for the continuing adventures of our favorite teenagers with attitude. In the world of Power Rangers Prime, we learn that Trey has been corrupted by an outside force called the Legion Ravenger, and he’s rallying captured Power Rangers (including Lauren’s missing Samurai family members) to his side. The corrupted Gold Ranger and twists with Lauren’s family are morphinomenal additions to the arc for the series, and this new chapter had me on the edge of my seat from cover to cover. I can’t believe we are down to a single issue after this, because Power Rangers Prime has been a genuine highlight every month.

(Managing Editor/Director of Media Relations) Matt interviewed MacGyver once (true story), and was invited on a submarine to the Arctic. It hasn't happened yet, but Matt hopes that some day he will get the call and he and Richard Dean Anderson will go off and have a wacky adventure.
