Lettering: Troy Peteri

This short story features Damien Wayne as he fights to overcome an ominous dream. Having mastered the art of power napping (because of course he has), Damien quickly realizes that something is wrong with his dreams. Although he normally has full control over his personal dream world, he learns that someone (or something) is searching for “the truth” that his friends are hiding and they will stop at nothing until they get what they want. What monsters lurk in our dreams? This setup seems to indicate that a twisted dream world is coming to our reality and all of our favorite heroes and villains will be impacted.

This special issue also features an art collection with twisted horror-inspired designs from Dan Mora, Miguel Mendonca, & Jeremy Haun, as well as cover variants from Francesco Mattina & Dustin Nguyen.

Overall
Although it was a brief story, I enjoyed the use of Damien to set up the upcoming Knight Terrors limited-series. The hilarious commentary from Firefly was my favorite standout moment from the issue, and I hope that we get little moments like that in the limited series. Knight Terrors looks to be something new and original for the Dawn of DC, and I look forward to seeing how Williamson and team craft these particular stories in July and August.

ComicsOnline gives Knight Terrors – Special Edition FCBD 2023 – 4/5 twisted dreams.

(Managing Editor/Director of Media Relations) Matt interviewed MacGyver once (true story), and was invited on a submarine to the Arctic. It hasn't happened yet, but Matt hopes that some day he will get the call and he and Richard Dean Anderson will go off and have a wacky adventure.
