Radiant Black #36 is the story of a lifetime, or at least one particular lifetime. That of the new Radiant Yellow!

The team at Black Market Narrative likes to do some non-traditional and experimental things with their stories, especially with the Radiant Yellow character. If you are expecting a linear presentation, this issue may be a bit jarring and confusing, but I personally think that fits in with the vibe of Nancy D’Agostino, the new Radiant Yellow.

Nancy is VERY different from the former holder of the Yellow Radiant, Wendell George. I won’t give too much away about the specifics of the story, but I can say you get to know A LOT about Nancy in a very short amount of non-linear time. She has clearly led a complicated life that has included financial/housing struggles, substance abuse, and family conflict. While some of her actions might feel self-serving, her heart is in the right place.

One of the great things about Radiant Black #36 is that it stands on its own. We get a nice recap that sets the stage, and then *BOOM* right into the life and times of Nancy. As a lifetime Chicago-area resident I always appreciate the relatable writing that Kyle Higgins and Joe Clark bring to the table. And let’s not forget Stefano Simeone, who gives us some brilliant cartoon-inspired art that exudes emotion.
