It’s hard to believe, but the most coveted item at San Diego Comic-Con 2026 was…a Green Lantern ring. It’s true!
Several studios were back for another round of offsite adventures and activations at SDCC, but without a doubt, the most sought-after experience of the year was the Lanterns Training Headquarters. Fans raced against the clock to secure a spot in this special event, but slots filled within seconds (I think it was the Manhunters), and only a select few were granted access. Thanks to our friends on OA (and HBO Max), ComicsOnline was kindly given the chance to earn our place amongst the Green Lantern Corps and defend Sector 2814.

Upon entering the Training Headquarters, trainees were invited to demonstrate their ability to overcome fear through a series of evaluations. Four squads would compete throughout an immersive experience based in Rushville, Nebraska, and if you had the willpower to complete the obstacles and exercises, the Guardians of the Universe (appearing conveniently in human form) would bestow each trainee with their very own Green Lantern ring (power battery not included). After reciting the Green Lantern oath, newly inducted Lanterns would have the opportunity to purchase exclusive merch and drinks at the “Lanterns Lounge” before lining up for a special photo booth where they could craft their first construct with their rings.

But fans weren’t the only ones to get in on the training experience, as the cast of Lanterns (Garret Dillahunt, Kyle Chandler, Aaron Pierre, & Poorna Jagannathan) also joined in the fun! Check out the full gallery below, provided by WBD/HBO Max:

Special thanks to the team at WBD and HBO Max for making this happen. As lifelong Green Lantern fans, we were thrilled to be included in this unique experience. We love to see these types of events at Comic-Con, and Lanterns just raised the bar for future years. Lanterns hits HBO Max on August 16th.
