It’s double the fun with Stephanie Williams this week at ComicsOnline! That’s right, our favorite Eisner Nominee is back for more fun with Host Matt Sernaker as they continue to talk about the comic book industry and all of Williams’ projects (Wonder Woman, Vixen, Street Sharks, Roots of Madness, Temporal, and more) after they reunited earlier this month at FAN EXPO Chicago. Check out the full interview below:

ComicsOnline: First of all, congratulations again on your SDCC 2026 experience. I was thrilled that we got to talk about Vixen and celebrate Wonder Woman and Vixen with you. You had so much happening, and I would love to hear about the rest of your unique San Diego Comic-Con experience.

Stephanie: I was everywhere all at once. 
It was really fun. Since I was a special guest, I had handlers (Sam and Lando) following me around. They were the sweetest people. The absolute best. I had four panels on Saturday, which was ridiculous, two of which overlapped. So I had to do the thing where you leave a little early, and you rush to the other side, but it was just so much fun, because I remember watching Coverage for San Diego on G4 TV. 
So really having that experience made my inner child so happy.

CO: Well, the fact that you got to celebrate with an Eisner nomination on top of all of that is absolutely wonderful. And I think it’s a testament to what you’ve been doing in the world of comics. We talked a bit about your Wonder Woman and Vixen work with DC, but you also have Street Sharks with IDW Publishing and Roots of Madness with Ignition Press. Are you enjoying having a mix of both creator-owned and existing IPs to play with?

SW: Absolutely, because I feel like they both feed into each other. 
Fans discover me through Wonder Woman, then go back and track down Roots of Madness and Temporal, or they’re going to check out some of my IP stuff, like Street Sharks. You know me, I love to write different genres as well. I really just want to keep getting better. The best way for me to do that is to keep challenging myself with different projects. 


CO: I know you teased that another DC project is potentially in the works, but I want to dive a little bit more into Vixen since more details have been released since our initial conversation. 
This is a character who hasn’t had much screen time or her own book. What attracts you to her as a character? 


SW: She’s a difficult character. I think because she’s very complex as a woman who is both a superhero and a supermodel. 
She doesn’t have an alias. You know her as both Vixen and Mari, and I find that fascinating. How does she navigate that? So, for this story, very similar to what was done in Far Sector, where Joe was telling you who she was, what was going on, and how she actually felt about it. I want Vixen to be able to inform readers in that way, too, to let them know who she is instead of them making the assumption. 
So having a chance to do that for a character like that means a lot, and to really explore her power set and expand on that a little bit more, her interior life, rogues’ gallery, all of that. It’s an opportunity I never thought I would have. 


CO: I’d love to focus a moment on your work with Ignition Press. I would love to hear about your experience with them, as they only recently broke into the publishing world, but they’ve been making considerable waves.

SW: I will say that it has been incredibly affirming and freeing for them to have taken a chance on me as one of the creators to help launch the publisher. That’s huge. That’s a tall task, and to be a part of that, and for Roots of Madness to have gone so well, it has been great. 
All the other books that have come out have been stellar; I just feel like that really helped me and my confidence as a creator.
