Guinness Book World Records Honors Saw And Others At SDCC 2010

GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS TO HONOR LIONSGATE'S SAW SERIES AT COMIC-CON 2010

Lionsgate’s Saw franchise will be honored by Craig Glenday, of the Guinness Book Worlds Records as the most successful horror movie series. During the course of the next four days Glenday will be on hand to judge record attempts and present official awards. Other awardees’ are Stone Cold Steve Austin, Sylvester Stallone, Todd Klein, and the San Diego Comic Convention. Read on to see where and why.

Thursday, July 22nd
2:00 PM – 'Most Chocolate Bars Eaten in One Minute'
THQ and Major League Eating sponsor world record attempt to celebrate the release of Red Faction: Armageddon.
Location: Fish Tin Restaurant – 170 6th Avenue (located directly across from the Comic Con convention)
 
4:45 PM – 'Most Successful Sports Movie Franchise' (Rocky)
International superstar and Hollywood icon, Sylvester Stallone, will accept the award along his co-star from Rocky IV, Dolph Lundgren, during the much-anticipated panel for The Expendables.
Location: The Expendables Panel – Hall H
 
Friday, July 23rd
11:00AM – 'Most Eisner Awards in One Category'
Legendary Letterer, Todd Klein, will accept the record certificate or receiving an unprecedented 15 Eisner Awards from 1993-2008.

1:20 PM – 'Most Ultimate Fighting Championships Heavyweight Championship Bouts Won' and 'Most WWE Royal Rumble Championships'
Randy Couture and Steve Austin, co-stars in the upcoming The Expendables, will each receive awards for their time in the ring.  World-renowned Ultimate Fighter, Couture, will receive his honor for racking up seven titles between 1997 and 2008. Austin will be honored for his three Royal Rumble wins.

3:30pm – Largest Comic Book Convention
Comic-Con International in San Diego garners over 125,000 attendees, making it the largest comic book convention in the world. The honor will be presented to David Glanzer, Director of Marketing and Publicity for Comic-Con.

8:00 pm – 'Most Successful Horror Movie Series' (SAW)
Producers Oren Koules and Mark Burg will accept the Guinness World Record for the 'Most Successful Horror Movie Series' with $732 million total global box office sales.

Saturday, July 24th
1:00pm – 'Tallest Structure Built With Interlocking Bricks' (LEGO)
The tallest structure built with interlocking plastic bricks was 30.22 m (99 ft 1 in) high and was constructed by children and adults at an event organized by Lego Norway in Oslo, Norway, on 24 April 2010. Julie Stern, Brand Relations Manager for LEGO, will accept the award.
