DVD Review: The Last Lovecraft: Relic of Cthulhu

Spoon!!

What do you do when members of you cult find half of a relic, that when joined with the other half, releases an indestructible force trapped beneath the ocean? And this force is named Cthulhu? You find the descendant of H. P. Lovecraft, of course.

That’s what happens in The Last Lovecraft: Relic of Cthulhu. Comic artist Jeff (Kyle Davis – Friday the 13th) is the last descendant of H. P. Lovecraft, and a Lovecraftian cult has found a relic and charged Jeff with the safekeeping of the object.

Your husband drives a taxi at night. You take a job sorting records at a closed hospital at night. There might be a couple of ghosts running around the building, and you are losing chunks of time. And, there is a serial killer running around town, and his schedule synchs with your blackouts and your husband’s schedule. Could it get any stranger?

Movie Review: Paul

What happens when you take actors from Shaun of the Dead, Arrested Development, Knocked Up, and Saturday Night Live and put them in a film that is written by Simon Pegg and Nick Frost? You get the hilarious science fiction comedy called Paul. Paul features the adventures of two British Comic-Book geeks who venture to America to attend San Diego Comic-Con. Following their experience at the convention, the two set out on a cross country UFO sight seeing tour and have a close encounter of their own.

Anime DVD Review: Black Butler, Season One

According to our new arrival, life is more than mere survival.

He cooks.  He cleans.  He kills.  The debonair Sebastian may not be Mr. Belvedere, but to his young and fragile master Ciel Phantomhive, he is certainly one hell of a butler.  For Sebastian’s array of talents are not exactly God-given.  Sebastian is an akuma shitsuji:  a devil butler.

You don’t know what a woot-off is? It’s where Woot sells one product at a time until they sell out, then they move on the the next item, while all the while everyone just wants to buy a Bandolier of Carrots or a Box of Chorizo. If that doesn’t make sense yet, maybe you better read all about the great deals they have.
