Why has this movie become such a success? Because it’s EPIC. Truly epic. This movie isn’t just about Batman, it is really about the world that he exists in and the influence he has on that world. The X-Files TV show ran nine seasons from 1993 to 2002. Season five of Fox’s Golden Globe and Emmy-winning series The X-Files ended with its highest viewership ever, the X-Files division of the FBI within the show had just been shut down, and fans were eager to finally see the X-Files movie, which we learned was shot in during the break between seasons 4 and 5, but picked up right where season 5 left off: the X-Files were no more, but Mulder and Scully were still FBI Agents.

As Christmas is upon us and many are feeling some negative aspects of the economy. Have you been to the mall and noticed the population of Santa’s village is a little lean this year. I don’t mean to say that they’ve lost weight individually, but that there are fewer elves, and… Hey, where’s the man himself?

DVD Review: The Day The Earth Stood Still (1951)

“The universe grows smaller every day, and the threat of aggression by any group, anywhere, can no longer be tolerated. There must be security for all, or no one is secure. Now, this does not mean giving up any freedom, except the freedom to act irresponsibly.”

Gift Guide 2008: Karl’s Gift Guide

“Tis better to give then receive’ has always been the credo for the holiday season, since before I was a kid, but everyone who said that always wanted someone else to be on the giving side, but I digress.

Anyway, I‘m at the point in my life where the majority of my gift giving family and friends are remote, and out exchanging of gifts is simplified to gift certificates. But in the good old gift giving days, I always wished for a list to guide the givers in my life.

So I have put together a list of gift possibilities guaranteed to ease the pain of receiving this holiday season.

DVD Review: The Polar Express presented in 3-D

This is the 3-D version of what I believe is one of most magical Christmas movies of all time. The digital effects alone are amazing (the film uses live motion capture technology), and the story is good enough to re-kindle the spirit of Christmas in even the most cynical adult.
