If you’re enjoying the Energon Universe, now is the perfect time to explore the other Transformers books from Skybound Entertainment! For the first time ever, the original Marvel books have been collected in impressive new compendium editions.
Transformers Compendium Vol. 1 collects nearly 50 issues from the original Transformers comic series (issues #1-44 of the original THE TRANSFORMERS comics and HEADMASTERS #1-4 limited series) into a truly massive collection (bigger than most omnibus releases) that is a must-have for any Transformers fan. After you’ve worked your way through the first collection, Transformers Compendium Vol. 2 adds another chunk of Cybertronian adventures (THE TRANSFORMERS #47-80, TRANSFORMERS: THE MOVIE #1-3, TRANSFORMERS GENERATION 2 #1-12).
Although I grew up watching the cartoons, the comics only enhanced my interest in the characters and provided additional opportunities to see my favorite robots in between their animated adventures. I was thrilled to learn that Skybound had the publishing rights to release this collection, and the best part is that this is only the start of the Transformers’ comic book saga…

Unbeknownst to me as a kid, Marvel had a second Transformers series that was running overseas. Getting this next release in my hands felt like finding buried treasure, as I got to explore a side of my favorite franchise that I had never experienced as a kid. Transformers: UK Compendium Vol.1 collects hard-to-find stories from the early days of the Transformers saga. Collects stories from THE TRANSFORMERS UK #9-21, #29-32, #41-50, #59-65, #74-88, #96-104, #113-120, #125, #131-138, #145; AF #24-27, and THE TRANSFORMERS UK ANNUAL 1985, 1986, & 1987. If you haven’t caught on by now, this is a LOT of Transformers content, but it also demonstrates how versatile this franchise has been over 40 years. There are many core elements that have continued to remain critical to the characters and their history, but it is equally as fun to see how the saga has evolved from the first comic book incarnation.
BUT WAIT…THERE’S MORE! Coming this November: Transformers: UK Compendium Vol. 2: Collects THE TRANSFORMERS UK #146-153, 160-161, 164-173, 180-189, 198-205, 213-289, STORIES FROM THE TRANSFORMERS UK ANNUALS 1989, 1990, 1991, & 1992, and THE TRANSFORMERS GENERATION 2 UK #1-2.
These would make great additions to the collection of any Transformers fan, and I think you will be impressed by how accessible these compendiums are from Skybound Entertainment.
