Comic Book Reviews: Week of 3/25/2026

ComicsOnline kicked off 2026 by reading a TON of comics, and this next week is a very big one for many of the publishers. There’s a lot to talk about, so we wanted to highlight some of our picks for the week of March 25th, 2026.

DC / Marvel: Superman / Spider-Man #1
Rating: ★★★★★
by Matt Sernaker

Official Synopsis: LEGENDARY CREATORS TAKE ON THE MAN OF STEEL AND YOUR FRIENDLY NEIGHBORHOOD SPIDER-MAN! Written by Mark Waid, Tom King, Matt Fraction, Sean Murphy, Gail Simone, Christopher Priest, Greg Rucka and Jeff Lemire Art by Jorge Jimenez, Jim Lee, Steve Lieber, Sean Murphy, Belen Ortega, Daniel Sampere, Nicola Scott and Rafa Sandoval The Last Son of Krypton meets your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man!

When journalists Clark Kent and Peter Parker find themselves chasing the same story, the conspiracy they uncover could change the world — especially if Brainiac and Doctor Octopus have anything to say about it. (And we bet they do!) Good thing our intrepid newshounds are secretly Superman and the amazing Spider-Man. Brought to you by legendary storytellers Mark Waid and Jorge Jimenez.

And don’t miss these bonus stories: Tom King and Jim Lee tell a tale of Lois Lane and Mary Jane Watson. Matt Fraction and Steve Lieber revisit Superman’s pal Jimmy Olsen… and Carnage! Sean Murphy, meanwhile, takes us to the future with Superboy (Legion) and Spider-Man 2099. Gail Simone teams up with Belen Ortega for a look at what happens when Power Girl meets Punisher. Christopher Priest and Daniel Sampere show us a time when Superboy Prime (who reads all the comics) decided to visit Spider-Man right after he got the black suit. Greg Rucka and Nicola Scott take us on an exciting race — between the Daily Planet and the Daily Bugle. Plus, we finally get to answer the age-old question of who would win in a fair fight, Pa Kent or Uncle Ben! Just kidding, those guys are too nice to fight each other, but Jeff Lemire and Rafa Sandoval will take us deep into the past to see the two men bond in the face of adversity. Celebrate 50 years of DC/Marvel crossovers with eight new original stories by some of DC’s top talent!

Review: The DC/Marvel partnership soars to new heights with the release of Superman / Spider-Man! So many incredible creators contributed to a series of stories that felt both timely and timeless. The main adventure, “Truth, Justice, and Great Responsibility” (creative team of Mark Waid, Jorge Jiménez, Tomeu Morey, and Tom Napolitano) was the perfect way to showcase the best attributes of our favorite heroes in red and blue, and it was pretty amazing to see how well both the heroes and the villains played in a shared universe.

Beyond the opener, readers were also treated to seven short stories featuring other creative pairings that only further solidified this team-up experience as a major event. As much as I loved all of these matches, the Lois Lane/Mary Jane Watson story “The World’s Finest” (creative team of Tom King, Jim Lee, Scott Williams, Alex Sinclair, and Pat Brosseau) was a true delight as the significant others of our heroes got to compare notes on their personal experiences. Mary Jane also gets one of the best lines in the entire book (her catch phrase gets a new interpretation). “Beyond the Cobwebs of Tomorrow” (creative team of Sean Murphy, Simon Gough, and Andworld Design) delivered a team-up that fans have been waiting to see for decades, and boy, does it go hard. There’s a major surprise in this one, so we won’t spoil it for you, but you are in for a treat. Lastly, I wanted to highlight “Blind Date” (creative team of Gail Simone, Belén Ortega, Jordie Bellaire, and Lucas Gattoni), because who could have guessed that the Punisher/Power Girl team-up would be such a pleasantly unexpected experience. That being said, there isn’t a weak story in the batch, and all of these adventures are easily worth the cost of admission.

Story 1 — “Truth, Justice, and Great Responsibility” by Mark Waid, Jorge Jiménez, Tomeu Morey and Tom Napolitano

Story 2 — “ The World’s Finest” by Tom King, Jim Lee, Scott Williams, Alex Sinclair and Pat Brosseau

Story 3 — “Pages” by Christopher Priest, Daniel Sampere, Alejandro Sánchez and Willie Schubert

Story 4 — “Beyond the Cobwebs of Tomorrow” by Sean Murphy, Simon Gough and Andworld Design

Story 5 — “Jimmy Con Carnage” by Matt Fraction, Steve Lieber, Nathan Fairbairn and Clayton Cowles

Story 6 — “The Bridge” by Jeff Lemire, Rafa Sandoval, Ulises Arreola and Becca Carey

Story 7 — “Bias” by Greg Rucka, Nicola Scott, Marcelo Maiolo, and Ariana Maher

Story 8 — “Blind Date” by Gail Simone, Belén Ortega, Jordie Bellaire and Lucas Gattoni

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers / Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III #5
Rating: ★★★★★
by Matt Sernaker

Official Synopsis: Don’t miss the shell-shocking conclusion of the fan favorite crossover! After perilous battles, the Rangers and Turtles must put their differences behind them with help from an unexpected new Ranger. The Rangers and Turtles must now face off against Super Zedd and the evil mutant Rangers. Will our heroes find the courage within themselves to save the day against seemingly insurmountable odds? New York Times–bestselling author Ryan Parrott, fan-favorite Italian comic book artist Vincenzo Federici, and Jodi Nishijima bring this celebrated, retro series to an epic end in this final, action-packed issue!

Review: Three volumes and fifteen issues later, the team-up between the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comes to a bodacious conclusion. Zedd and Shredder have launched their shocking plans for galactic domination, and it’s up to our favorite teenagers (of both the turtles and attitude varieties) to save the day. The shocking return of Splinter (thanks for not actually killing him Ryan) provides a new layer of entertainment as the mentors get in on the action. We also get a massive Zord battle featuring the long-awaited introduction of the Dimension X equivalents. Suffice it to say, there’s a lot that happens in the grand finale, but the entire experience has been nothing but a win for readers. This chapter cleanly puts a bow on all of the major elements, and the proverbial superhero landing has been achieved. My favorite stories are the ones that make me feel like a kid again, and Mighty Morphin Power Rangers / Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III #5 in particular brought out the best Saturday Morning memories. Congratulations to the entire creative team on pulling this off.

Green Lantern #33 (Legacy #600)
Rating: ★★★★★
by Matt Sernaker

Official Synopsis: KYLE RAYNER LEADS THE NEXT CHAPTER OF THE GREEN LANTERN MYTHOS STARTING HERE! CELEBRATE 600 ISSUES OF GREEN LANTERN WITH EPIC STORIES, LEGENDARY CREATORS, AND NEW COSTUMES DESIGNED BY SUPERSTAR ARTIST DAVID NAKAYAMA!

In this special, oversize 600th issue, Hal Jordan will be tested as never before… and a new Lantern stands poised to step in should he fail. Hal embarks on a mysterious mission while Kyle Rayner finally moves back to Los Angeles and again takes up the mantle of Green Lantern of Earth. Join Kyle as he finds a job, navigates traffic, and chases down escaped villains from Oa! All this, plus a host of legendary guest artists and writers from Lanterns past, and an answer to the question posed to Star Sapphire in the last issue…

Review: It doesn’t get much better than this! Fan-favorite Lantern Kyle Rayner takes center stage once again as Green Lantern hits milestone issue 600. After the shocking finale of the previous issue, Hal Jordan is off on a new intergalactic adventure to better understand the cryptic visions from the Book of OA. Before he departed, he asked Kyle to watch over Earth and find a slew of escaped alien prisoners that happen to be hiding out in our corner of the universe, so now the Torchbearer is back in action as the GL of Sector 2814. Kyle has a new mission, a new costume, and a new city to call home. But he won’t be doing things alone. Wally West is quick to help his old friend, and it’s hard not to love the quality time together. Our resident GL also has Odyssey along with him for the adventures, and we are treated to a quick recap of Kyle’s history in a special interlude. As if the main story wasn’t great enough, we also get a bit more detail on Hal’s new journey, as well as a Krona-centric flashback to catch people up on the larger world of Green Lantern, with the icing on the cake being a new Kyle Rayner story by his creators, Ron Marz and Darryl Banks.

As a life-long GL fan, this installment hits on so many levels. Green Lantern #600 is a celebration of both Hal and Kyle, and I appreciated the dual approach that ensures there’s something for everyone. Beyond the incredible writers, I want to highlight the insanely talented team that contributed to this important endeavor. The artists just nailed each chapter of this story, perfectly capturing Hal and Kyle’s different styles and history. The vivid coloring struck a perfect balance with this set of stories, complementing the bold narrative choices. I like to think of the lettering as the glue that pulls it all together, and Dave Sharpe continues to bat a thousand in this regard.

Story 1 — “I Love L.A.” by Jeremy Adams, Xermanico, Romulo Fajardo Jr, and Dave Sharpe

Story 2 — “City of Angels: The Origin of Kyle Rayner” by Jeremy Adams, V Ken Marion, Veronica Gandini, and Dave Shape

Story 3 — “Brighter Day: The Origin of Hal Jordan” by Jeremy Adams, Dan Jurgens, Norm Rapmund, Adriano Lucas, and Dave Sharpe

Story 4 — “Light in Darkness” by Ron Marz, Darryl Banks, Chris Sotomayor, and Dave Sharpe

Star Trek: The Last Starship #6
Rating: ★★★★½
by Matt Sernaker

Official Synopsis: In the shadow of the Burn, the Federation was left fractured, vulnerable, and nearly lost. Now, its fate hangs in the balance. As the Babel Conference unravels, Captain Sato must protect Starfleet’s ideals while enemies close in on every side. Meanwhile, James T. Kirk embarks on a dangerous mission that will test the limits of loyalty, courage, and sacrifice…

Review: The Federation is falling apart, and despite their best efforts, the crew of the U.S.S. Omega is in for an uphill battle. The Babel Conference has failed, and the sudden emergence of the Emerald Chain provides another massive shakeup for the already devastated galaxy. With the situation getting more desperate by the minute, the newly returned James T. Kirk picks his moment to jump into action as he tries to sway the tide back in favor of Starfleet. Oh, and did we mention that the Emerald Chain can incapacitate the BORG? Everything is about to get crazy in the big Chapter Two finale of Star Trek: The Last Starship.

(Managing Editor/Director of Media Relations) Matt interviewed MacGyver once (true story), and was invited on a submarine to the Arctic. It hasn't happened yet, but Matt hopes that some day he will get the call and he and Richard Dean Anderson will go off and have a wacky adventure.
