Comic Book Reviews: Week of 5/13/2026

ComicsOnline kicked off 2026 by reading a TON of comics. There’s a lot to talk about, and we wanted to highlight some of our picks for the week of May 13th, 2026.

Undiscovered Country #36
Rating: ★★★★★
by Matt Sernaker

Official Synopsis: The pulse-pounding conclusion to the epic series! Will our heroes find a way to stitch together the tattered country or will the forces of Aurora ultimately prevail. Find out in this gripping finale!

Review: Written by Scott Snyder & Charles Soule, with art by Giuseppe Camuncoli & Leonardo Marcello Grassi, coloring by Matt Wilson, and lettering by Crank!, Undiscovered Country has finally reached the grand finale. For 36 issues (plus a one-shot special), we’ve followed a team of intrepid explorers as they searched for answers and the secret behind America’s choice to close itself off from the rest of the world for decades. The puzzle pieces slowly came together across various themed “zones”, but it wasn’t until a shocking adventure to the moon that we really got to see the true machinations of the mysterious Aurora. At the very end of the story, only one person will be permitted to define what form “America” will take next, and true to Undiscovered Country’s overall approach, it’s not over until the fat lady sings.

Without spoiling the finale issue, I will say that this was a phenomenal end to one of my favorite ongoing series. Readers are treated to big twists all the way to the final panel, ultimately culminating in a perfect series finale. I’ve loved this book since the first issue, and it felt that the final arc was extremely satisfying. Congratulations to the entire creative team on sticking the landing with this last chapter.

(Managing Editor/Director of Media Relations) Matt interviewed MacGyver once (true story), and was invited on a submarine to the Arctic. It hasn't happened yet, but Matt hopes that some day he will get the call and he and Richard Dean Anderson will go off and have a wacky adventure.
