Manga Review: Pokemon Adventure Volume 1

Pokemon Adventures is a story of a boy named Red and his dream to become a pokemon master. Red also wants to catch all of the pokemon, but he’s not alone, his rival is Blue. Blue is the grand son of Professor Oak, one of the greatest pokemon researchers of all time. The challenges in front of Red are hard and Team Rocket will just make them harder. Team Rocket aren’t the only problems, there are run away pokemon, pokemon thefts, pokemon that got fused with humans, pokemon zombis and getting trampled by a Snorlax. With all of those problems Red sure has his work cut out to be a pokemon master.

Highlights

Pokemon Adventures is based on the original three Pokemon video games, Red, Blue and Yellow version. The characters, Red and Blue are named after the video games and they are based off characters in the T.V. show. Red is based off Ash Ketchum and blue is based off Gary Oak. All of the adventures that happen are at places that also appear in the game, but the adventures are not the same as the the video game. Reds first adventure was in Pallet Town, and he was out in the woods looking for pokemon when stumbled across Blue battling a pokemon named Mew. When Blue lost the battle, Red jumped in to the battle to try and catch the pokemon Mew. Mew is one of the the most rare pokemon in the world. For Red to capture Mew he will half to use all he has learned.

Overview

I find this manga to be a better than the actual T.V. show. I’ve played the games and this is based off the games, I feel a deeper connection with the mange than the T.V. show. Although the stories are different I found it exciting to read. I think this manga is great for everyone and especially for any fans of the the original games, you will love this manga and it will bring back good memories.
