Blu-ray Review: Shaun of the Dead

The cult classic comedy Shaun of the Dead is now available for you to own on Blu-ray! Starring Star Trek's Simon Pegg and written by Edgar Wright, this film is a great parody of the zombie and horror genre.

When Shaun (Simon Pegg) accidentally forgets to make plans for his anniversary dinner with his girlfriend Liz (Kate Ashfield), he ends up single and alone. He goes to his favorite pub called the Winchester with his best friend Ed (as played by Nick Frost) and the two men get totally hammered. The next morning, they wake up only to find that the world is not as they remember it, and a zombie plague has been unleashed on London. Now the two men must step up and try to save their friends and family before it is too late. Shaun and Ed rescue Shaun's parents, but they learn that his Step-Father (Bill Nighy) has been bitten. His mother (Doctor Who's Penelope Wilton) insists that they bring him along but it is only a matter of time until he becomes a zombie. They then go to Liz's apartment and save Liz and her two best friends David and Dianne. Shaun announces his plan to make their way to the Winchester where they can try and hold out until help can arrive.

Overall:
This is a film that you can watch over and over again and it really doesn't get old. Simon Pegg and Nick Frost are spectacular as the lead characters and they are truly entertaining during every second of this film. This new release does contain some new features but there isn't a lot of new content overall. The transition from DVD to Blu-ray looks and sounds great and it makes the film that much more enjoyable to watch. If you don't have this in your collection, then check out the Blu-ray release.

ComicsOnline gives the Blu-ray release of Shaun of the Dead 4 out of 5 Zombie Parodies.
