DVD Review: SGT. Frog: season 1 part 2

“”Prepare to fail.”

And the madness continues, with season 1 part 2 of SGT. Frog. Every one’s favorite Fridiot, Sergeant Keroro, and the ARMPIT platoon are back with more schemes to overthrow Pekopon (Earth) than ever. These aren't your every day domination plans, these are planned out for hours on end down to the every last detail. These master plans range from Death Gorillas to replacing the earth’s water supply with soda! So really, the plans sorta suck, but the ARMPIT platoon is to busy for plans doomed to failure. They are too busy doing other things like building Gundam models, dealing with clones, planting flowers and going to the beach! If all that wasn’t enough to occupy them from taking over Pekopon, Keroro has to deal with his Pekoponian host family. One of them, the cruel and hurtful Natsumi, is constantly foiling Keroro’s plans. There is also another one; shy, social misfit and paranormal expert Fuyuki who tends to just go along for the ride.

Highlights
Keroro and the gang were having problems with doppelgangers. Fuyuki’s rich stalker, Momoka has a problem straight from X-Men. When Momoka is spun in a large device (like what the astronauts use), her good side and her evil side separated in two people. The evil Momoka goes of to get her man (Fuyuki) and destroy the world and nothing is going to get in her way, unlike the good Momoka. The only way evil Momoka could think  of destroying the world was to take over the ARMPIT platoon and use their giant missal called the Ultimate Killerfier. Before evil Momoka pressed the button on the Ultimate Killerfier, Fuyuki and good Momoka convinced evil Momoka from killing everyone. The last thing they need to do was combine the two Momakas together and as seen on TV, they did the fusion dance from Dragon Ball Z

Overall
SGT. Frog is more fun than a  box of squirrels. This is the best anime about alien space frogs, for many reasons. The first reasons is the Platoon members. You have the one with guns, the evil tekkie, the cute psycho, the socially challenged ninja, and the incompetent nerd. What’s nice about this part is that they are all here and failing together. There is one more thing in the ARMPIT platoon, Fudgie the submarine, which is almost as good as a WII. SGT. Frog is also one of the funniest animes, the only other that competes on the same level is Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo. Even though SGT. Frog isn’t 100% random, like Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo, it’s still like 65% random, 20% well placed humor, 10% references, and 5% Gundam which equals 100% awesomeness. References are one of the most noticeable things about SGT. Frog, even the narrator asks “Is there any pop culture icons that we won’t reference? I need to know incase I'm ever on a anime con panel.” Even though many anime will be like SGT. Frog; SGT. Frog if one in 75,563,298.
