Survival of the Dead takes place immediately after the events of Diary of the Dead, on Plum Island, located off the coast of Delaware. Two families, the O’Flynns and the Muldoons, have been in a power struggle for generations, and the zombie plague is no different. Patrick O’Flynn (Kenneth Welch – Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer) wants to adopt a shoot first and ask questions later attitude, whereas Shamus Muldoon (Richard Fitzpatrick – Flash of Genius) wants a capture and quarantine policy, just in case a cure is found.

 

The Muldoons, having superior numbers, force the O’Flynns to exile Patrick to the mainland, where he meets a group of soldiers led by Sarge (Alan Van Sprang – Diary of the Dead). Together they return to Plum Island only to find that the zombies rule and the humans are the minority.

 

Master of horror, George Romero, uses dark humor and social commentary to reinvent the horror genre, and escalate the battle between humans and zombies.
