TV Review: Lost Girl 3×12 “Hail, Hale”

Lost Girl comes back with a vengeance with an excellent episode right before the finale. Dyson’s captured, Hale’s about to be the new Ash, Kenzi might be branded an enemy of the Fae, and Bo gets closer to finding out what Tamsin did to her. If only they had this energy the rest of the season, right? Lost Girl is on Showcase Sunday nights at 9 PM ET, and on SyFy Monday nights at 9 PM EST.

Editorial: CONsent and striking a chord in cosplay fandom

by Bill Watters, Editor and Photographer Earlier this week, Sushi Killer wrote a great opinion piece at 16-bit Sirens entitled, The Beginnings of CONsent. At it’s core is a much needed statement about the lack of respect nearly all cosplayers…

Movie Review: Jurassic Park 3-D

While 3-D still sometimes seems like a gimmick, Jurassic Park 3-D is actually made better because of it.  Rather than get a standard 3-D update where the special effects get the treatment, the entire film was re-done with it.  It looks fantastic.  The depth of field created by the 3-D makes the dinosaur encounters much more terrifying.

TV Review: Doctor Who 7×7 “The Bells of Saint John”

Doctor Who is back! Healed from the loss of his former Companions, he is absorbed with the mystery of Clara Oswin Oswald, the woman who keeps finding him and promptly dying. This new adventure takes him to present time where the enemy is wi-fi, and the new villain for the season is mentioned again. It airs on BBC America Saturday nights at 8 PM EST.

TV Review: Game of Thrones 3×1 “Valar Dohaeris”

Join Dee and Jachelle, also known as Deechelle, as they delve into season three of Game of Thrones. We’ve been waiting frantically for a year now, and the show hasn’t disappointed. The only problem is how hard it is to wait for the next episode. What’s going on with your favorite Kings, schemers, and murderers? Read on and find out.

TV Review: Lost Girl 3×11 “Adventures In Fae-bysitting”

In which I continue to be disappointed by this season.  Maybe once upon a time these one-off episodes worked well, but now they’re starting to feel like a distraction from the  bigger questions. Who is Bo’s Dad? Why is Hale acting strange? What’s Tamsin’s part in this? Join me with mulling over the episode.

TV Review: The Following 1×11 “Whips and Regret”

Previously on The Following: Claire voluntarily went with the cult to get a chance to see Joey. Ryan was heartbroken because they said they loved each other right before. Emma left boyfriend Jacob and other boyfriend Paul to die. Jacob had to mercy kill Paul, so he’s sort of checked out now and becoming as creepy a guy as everyone else. Roderick, Joe’s second in command, started showing signs of not liking how power was shifting with the group. The FBI sucks at their job a lot. Oh and we just found out that Ryan’s ex Molly is one of the cult. Unsurprising. We were introed to a new follower Vince who is only important to this episode. I usually like the one-off followers we meet and their own brand of crazy, but this one fell a little flat. Plus the episode highlighted a few of the weaknesses in the show, including the FBI’s ineptitude, Ryan’s instability, and a sort of ‘where are we going with this?’ feeling. But on with the episode.

TV Review: Hannibal Premiere Episode – “Apéritif”

An "Apéritif" is an alcoholic beverage usually served before a meal to stimulate the appetite. Mary Anne Butler (aka Mabs) whets our appetites for the tasty new Hannibal series, airing Thursdays on NBC at 10/9c.
