To quickly catch you up: Quark has a corgi he’s named Latinum that everyone has fallen in love with. There’s also a computer-mind interface device based on Borg technology that Captain Sisko has personally tested and maybe might be a little more prepared for than the next mind because hey, he’s the Emissary of the Prophets, after all. So it turns out that the dog and the device were all a ruse for information pirates to steal away all the data from DS9’s computers, and being as though this takes place at the height of the Dominion War, those files are very sensitive.

So now this issue it’s all hands on deck, cause they’re gonna gets their dog back and they’re gonna get their data back and they have a plan equivalent to a bank heist or train robbery. Will they succeed? Was Emony Dax as good a gymnast as she remembers? Can Sisko avoid being entirely subsumed by the siren of cyberspace supplied by the Borg device? Will they act in time to prevent the pirates from delivering the Federation’s tactical data to the Dominion?

This issue is written by Mike Chen (Star Wars Brotherhood) and art by Angel Hernández (Star Trek – Green Lantern: The Spectrum War) with colors by Nick Filardi (Powers, Deadpool) and lettering by Neil Uyetake (Star Trek: Picard – Stargazer).

Latinum’s fate is still a mystery, but Mike Chen’s writing is still killing it. Dog lovers and Deep Space Nine enthusiasts will continue to love this series. It’s so good you may want to go back and watch DS9 season 6 all over again just like we did. The characterization and tone in the story, dialogue, and visual representation continues to be spot on with the original series. Obviously, this is important for a show we’ve loved for 25 years, right?

We’re looking forward to the finale of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine – The Dog of War #5!
