We knew what Benjamin Sisko left behind when Star Trek: Deep Space Nine ended, but no one could have expected that what would come next would have been so impressive. From the very first issue of IDW Publishing’s Star Trek relaunch, it was clear that this series was going to be one watch. The return of Benjamin Sisko is something that fans have been hoping to see for decades, and these creative teams found a way to do it in style. Not only did we get to see the Emissary’s return, we got a sense of closure on many elements of Trek that had been unanswered. We got to boldly explore strange new worlds with characters from the TOS, TNG, DS9, Voyager, Lower Decks, and Picard eras of the series, and even got to see these fan-favorite characters interact with the Kelvin iterations in the stellar milestone 25th issue. We were treated to two massive crossover events (The Day of Blood and Lore War) plus a handful of special one-shots that standout that deserve ALL the recognition. The names above all played a pivotal role in bringing us to this bittersweet point: the epilogue.

Star Trek: Omega is a masterpiece. This book showcases all of the characters from both of the ongoing titles and provides readers with something we needed most: a sense of closure. Based on the story’s timeframe, we knew the characters would eventually head towards their destinies within the greater Star Trek universe. The question of what happened in between those major television and film milestones finally gets some answers, and thankfully, the resolution is utterly satisfying. The glimpses into the character’s lives post Lore War is executed with care and grace, as the artistic talent behind the Trek books gets highlighted in this spectacular final issue.

(Managing Editor/Director of Media Relations) Matt interviewed MacGyver once (true story), and was invited on a submarine to the Arctic. It hasn't happened yet, but Matt hopes that some day he will get the call and he and Richard Dean Anderson will go off and have a wacky adventure.
