LOWER DECKS! LOWER DECKS!
For those of us who are missing the animated adventures of the U.S.S. Cerritos and her crew, we now have an opportunity to go behind the scenes for a deep dive into the creation of the series with the release of The Art of Star Trek: Lower Decks from IDW Publishing. Readers will have the chance to explore these characters and their stories in a new light, as the art team behind the series provides new commentary, process insights, and stories from their time crafting this corner of the Star Trek Universe.

When it comes to special editions and collections, IDW Publishing continues to stand apart from the competition, and that absolutely applies to the release of The Art of Star Trek: Lower Decks. I absolutely love seeing concept art and exploring the alternate designs and elements that were almost used in the making of my favorite television series and movies. We get a gorgeous new look at the story building and artistic approach to creating Lower Decks, and I have no doubt that fans of the show will devour this book. This release perfectly showcases the love for the Cerritos’ cast of characters, and the additional context from the creative team makes this a must read for any Star Trek fan.

This release doesn’t feel like just an art book, but more of a celebration of everything that the creators and cast accomplished during its five year journey. It is the perfect companion to your Star Trek: Lower Decks Complete Series Blu-ray or DVD set (let’s face it, if you are reading this, you probably still buy physical media just like us), and don’t forget to explore the adventures of the Cerritos in the newly collected Star Trek: Lower Decks Volumes 1 and 2, also available from IDW Publishing and highly recommended by ComicsOnline.
