There are some incredible books hitting your local comic book store this week, so let’s dive right in and highlight some of our picks for the week of June 10th, 2026

Absolute Catwoman #1
Rating:

by Matt Sernaker
Official Synopsis: WITH ALL THE WEALTH… WITH ALL THE GEAR… WITH ALL THE SKILLS, SHE IS THE ABSOLUTE APEX PREDATOR!
Selina Kyle has carved a good life for herself. Through her ingenuity and skills, she’s become the greatest thief the world has ever known. With high-tech gear and weaponry, there’s no place too secure for Catwoman. Selina has built this life for herself and thoroughly escaped Gotham. But when someone from her past comes knocking at her door, Selina’s life comes crashing down around here. She’ll need to get to the bottom of a mystery taking her all around the globe! Written by Che Grayson and Scott Snyder with art by Bengal, Catwoman bursts onto the scene in the Absolute Universe!
Review: Once again, DC is making waves in the comic book world with another phenomenal release in their Absolute Universe line. Spinning out of the events of Absolute Batman, Selina Kyle takes her turn in the spotlight as we get to explore more of her unique backstory. This story kicks off in a very different way than the other Absolute books, as Catwoman’s journey subverts expectations with the incorporation of some unexpected classic DC elements in the opening pages. Seeing Selina have an expanded role on a global stage was a personal highlight, along with the Cat Cave and all of the glorious Easter Eggs. The tongue-in-cheek references and non-linear approach to the narrative complement the overall approach to this character, and it is clear that Selina Kyle is set to play a major role in this expanding universe. Absolute Catwoman acts as both a wonderful standalone story and a unique companion to Absolute Batman.

Transformers #33
Rating:

by Matt Sernaker
Official Synopsis: OPTIMUS’ NEW AUTOBOT TEAM REVEALED! A new team of Autobots remains on Earth under Optimus’ leadership. But can they come together after the battle between Optimus and Elita?
Review: Reunited and it feels soooooo goood. That’s right, with the upcoming 40th Anniversary of Transformers: The Movie, several members of the Autobot clan finally join the fight in the main title. If you’ve been reading the Energon Universe this entire time, then you’ll have noticed many major players popping up in the pages of Void Rivals, but now the circle feels complete with their arrival on Cybertron. Meanwhile, the new status quo for Optimus and his former Autobots (not sure what to call them yet) gets explored through the lens of their human friends, and we also get a quick update on a missing Decepticon. Lots of movement, great characterization, and artful storytelling continues to make Transformers one of my favorite books hitting the shelves.

Avengers: Armageddon #1
Rating:

by Matt Sernaker
Official Synopsis: ARMAGEDDON HAS ARRIVED! Red Hulk’s devastating tear across the globe must be stopped… but it will take a colossal gathering of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes to do it! Calling in the Avengers, the Fantastic Four, Wolverine and more… but who will survive this super-powered cataclysm?! There will be a pre-Armageddon Marvel Universe and a post-Armageddon Marvel Universe. Be here to bear witness to the transformation.
Review: I haven’t been this excited about an Avengers event in years. While the larger Marvel Universe feels overwhelmed by event fatigue, this first issue set the stage for an original new story for the Avengers. If you want a point of comparison, Avengers: Armageddon has the potential to be on-par with the launch of the fan-favorite New Avengers run, and that is a massive compliment. Steve Rodgers has been sidelined by the Red Hulk, and now General Ross is on quest to change the world with his new seat of power in Latveria. The stakes are high, the characterization is on point, and the story feels worthy of the Avengers name. The additional payoff on the connection to the current Captain America run adds to my excitement and hope for this adventure.

Green Lantern Corps #17
Rating:

by Matt Sernaker
Official Synopsis: THE MANHUNTERS PRESS THE ATTACK! Trying to keep the new Manhunters from stealing Ophidian, Effigy goes supernova on the sun, turning it into a black hole as the Lanterns race past the event horizon to save Ophidian and reverse the effects before Oa and New Thanagar plunge into frigid ice ages.
Review: Guy Gardner’s rise to prominence continues with the release of Green Lantern Corps #17. After plunging into a black hole at the end of the previous issue, Guy finds himself face-to-face with both an older (and wiser?) version of himself, as well as one of the missing Entities: ION!? In order to escape from the event horizon and save the day, our favorite hot-headed Lantern must take an introspective look and better understand himself and his new capabilities.
Green Lantern Corps #17 provides readers with a very different visual experience, leveraging a wide-screen format as Guy’s perceptions inside of the black hole drive the storytelling experience. I love books that take risks and play with their format, and this issue hits in many ways, especially with the limitations of what can fit inside of a comic book panel. This could easily have felt like a gimmick (we’ve previously seen this attempted in the early 2000s), but the level of thought, logic, and creativity demonstrated here makes it a standout for readers. There’s a lot to unpack in this issue, and I would highly recommend that you add this to your reading list for the week.

Emperor Aquaman #18
Rating:

by Matt Sernaker
Official Synopsis: GUEST-STARRING HAL JORDAN! Aquaman finds himself trapped in a mysterious prison, only to find out he’s not the only one there — Hal Jordan joins him in a jailbreak among the stars! A union between the lost Green Lantern and the Emperor to the stars points the way toward a major sea change for the DC Universe!
Review: Hal and Arthur team up…IN SPACE!!!?! Yes, this issue is just as crazy as it sounds, and I LOVED IT. Jeremy Adams continues to demonstrate his versatility in writing all of the heroes across the DC Universe, and this issue has convinced me that we need an ongoing Jeremy Adams written team-up book. Aside from the lack of beards as teased on the cover (THE BEARDS WERE A LIE), this issue might have been one of the best Aquaman issues that I’ve read in years. Hal’s inclusion helped to spotlight Arthur’s evolution to his current state in the Emperor Aquaman book, and I appreciated how inclusive this chapter was for those of us who might have been a little behind in our Aquaman reading (I’m sorry, I’m working on it). I will say, after this issue, I will be prioritizing my reading of the hero in orange and green, because this was utterly fantastic.

M.A.S.K. #1
Rating:

by Matt Sernaker
Official Synopsis: NEW SERIES THE NEXT PHASE OF THE ENERGON UNIVERSE STARTS HERE! The world is becoming a terrifying place. Matt Trakker needs your help saving it. Enter M.A.S.K. — a network of specialists recruited to respond to the next global emergency. At a moment’s notice, Trakker and his agents can deploy bleeding-edge technology that converts their vehicles — and their drivers — into the ultimate weapon. But Miles Mayhem and V.E.N.O.M. are one step ahead in a secret arms race, scouring the globe for deadly weapons from this planet and beyond, ready to sell out the entire human race. Only M.A.S.K. can stop them… but will Trakker’s own secrets jeopardize their entire mission? Powerhouse creators DAN WATTERS and PYE PARR launch the most anticipated new series of the year, where anyone — and everyone — in the Energon Universe must join the fight for humanity’s survival.
Review: The Energon Universe gets a few new additions this week as M.A.S.K. joins the fray! Of all of the additions to Skybound’s expanding narrative, this was the series that I had the least knowledge of going in. Just as they’ve done before with G.I. Joe, Transformers, and Void Rivals, this book is provides yet another easy entry point for new readers, and something a bit special for existing fans as well. M.A.S.K. explores more of the human side of things with a book that is filled with flying cars, crazy technology, and maybe even some wormholes to other worlds. It’s dark, gritty, and very different from the other titles Skybound has out right now, but most importantly, it’s exciting to see how seamlessly these properties can connect to the larger Energon Universe.
Oh, and if you decided to pick up the blind bag version of M.A.S.K., you might be in for a big surprise with another cosmic addition to Skybound’s pantheon of characters… No spoilers.
