TV Review: Futurama “Neutopia” and “Benderama”

The show that was once canceled and then reborn as a set of DVD movies and then brought back as a full series returns again for another season of high tech futuristic wacky hijinx! That’s right, tonight is the return of Futurama on Comedy Central with two all brand new episodes starring our favorite bunch of lovable space delivery misfits. The real question is can the series still meet our expectations in terms of the level of hilarity we expect from this series.

DVD Review: Challenge of the Gobots: The Original Miniseries

If you were a child in the 1980’s, and have participated in Geek culture at any time since, it is possible that you have encountered a very silly debate between fans of the popular Transforming-Robot series, Transformers, and the not-quite-so-popular, Transforming-Robot series, Gobots. It is a fairly useless debate, as Gobots fans generally stress that Gobots came first, while Transformers fans counter with the fact that Transformers wasn’t a pile of crap. But who is correct? Now we can find out, with the release of the miniseries that started it all: Challenge of the Gobots: The Original Miniseries now on DVD!
DVD Review: Spider-Woman: Agent of S.W.O.R.D.

Never judge a DVD by its cover. That is probably the primary lesson that I learned from Spider-Woman: Agent of S.W.O.R.D. You see, I assumed that the DVD for Spider-Woman contained an animated movie that did something interesting with Spider-Woman, who doesn’t seem to be all that popular among fans. I’d seen her featured in interesting roles in the Avengers comics a while back, but never really sympathized with her character, so I just assumed that this movie would be a good chance to get to know the character in her post-Invasion incarnation.
But this isn’t a movie, it is a motion comic, and it would be unfair to judge this motion comic by movie standards, right? So, let’s start over.
DVD Review: Stargate Universe: The Complete Final Season (Season Two)

Every mission has a destiny… and apparently this mission’s destiny was to end long before its time was up. Stargate Universe: The Complete Final Season (aka Season Two) was both a blessing and a curse for sci-fi fans, as the season really ramped up the epic journey of Col. Young, Lt. Scott, Eli, Chloe and Dr. Rush, seeing them delve into deeper and darker territory than any Stargate series ever had. This darker setting made it one of the most captivating and interesting series that the franchise ever produced, breathing new life into previously generic sci-fi situations.
DVD Review: Doctor Who: Terror of the Autons and Doctor Who: The Planet of the Spiders

Now two more classic Doctor Who stories, Terror of the Autons and The Planet of the Spiders (featuring Jon Pertwee) are now available for you to own on DVD!
Back in 2009, I was scandalized by the idea that any actor could possibly replace David Tennant as The Doctor in BBC’s excellent science fiction series Doctor Who. I couldn’t imagine anyone taking his place, and was sure that the series would no longer be the brilliant show I knew and loved.
DVD Review: Burn Notice – Season Four

For the past few seasons Burn Notice has been a very entertaining yet very formulaic show. Matt Nix, the mastermind behind the series, noticed that both critics and viewers were becoming a bit bored with the old “Michael takes on a case to help someone from bad people, while slowly piecing together who the main villain of the season is, with a new clue popping up at the end of every episode” dog-and-pony-show. Thus, Season Four set out to change the approach to the show in several ways.
10 Things I learned from being a Zombie on a movie set
A few weeks ago, I played a zombie in a short film called ‘Zombie Man‘ (by Solar Light Films). You might have read about my make-up test here.
It was a really fun and crazy shoot, but I also learned a few valuable lessons, which I am happy to share with you all.
Forget about what you should do in a Zombie Apocalypse! Most of us already know – if you don’t, just google it!
The following is what I’ve learned from playing a ZOMBIE on a film set in a nature preserve for one day.

DVD Review: Rocko’s Modern Life – Season One

For almost every 90’s kid, NickToons were a staple in after-school and weekend TV. Shows like Aaaah! Real Monsters, Hey Arnold!, The Angry Beavers, and Ren and Stimpy were a huge part of middle school entertainment, and Rocko‘s Modern Life is certainly no exception. As a matter of fact, Rocko‘s Modern Life was one of the more mature and amusing of the diverse NickToons lineup, and now it is available for you to own!
Movie Review: Green Lantern

After years of waiting, fans of Green Lantern are finally rewarded with a big screen adaptation of their favorite ring slinging hero. Without any question, this IS a Green Lantern movie. All of the elements that fans would hope to see brought to life now exist on screen for the first time ever. To be a Green Lantern, you must have the ability to overcome fear, and while there was much debate over the final quality of this film (mostly concerning casting choices and CGI), I believe that audiences will be pleasantly surprised by the story of Hal Jordan of Earth.
Have no fear, but beware of minor spoilers!

There comes a time in every adult’s life in which he or she will come to believe that Chuck Norris is nothing more than an aging TV Star whose reputation has been over-inflated by memes on the internet, to the point that pencil-necked geeks and poorly socialized man-children worship him as if he were a god. To all of those people: make no mistake, those geeks and man-children are right. Chuck Norris is not man, but something greater, and that becomes apparent in the first moments of Chuck Norris: Karate Kommandos.

Transformers fans are quite the fickle and picky bunch, so when Beast Wars: Transformers was announced as a brand new animated series featuring their favorite robots as animals, more than a few were quite taken aback by the concept. When you added in the fact that it was forsaking traditional animation for the then-new-fangled completely CGI animation, the hard-to-please bunch were more than a little wary.
