DVD Review: Big Man Japan

A reluctant hero, who is not seen as a hero, and is starving to be a hit on Japanese TV. Are you confused yet? I was very confused for the first 10 minutes of this insane but outstanding movie. This is the most bizarre adult adaptation of a Japanese Monster movie I have ever seen. Taking the entire genre and wrapping it into a documentary is brilliant and hilarious to boot.
Highlights
This film opens as a documentary of Big Sato, or Big Man Japan. He is an everyday human that can transform himself into a giant when monsters decide to drop by and reek a little havoc. The first 10 minutes set the entire story up. It provides a glimpse into the mind of this strange convoluted man. There several great references to things getting bigger when needed and they become more relevant later in the movie.

Leverage: The First Season DVD Set

TNT has really started to come up with creative original series, and right now they have some of the hottest TV: The Closer, Raising The Bar, Saving Grace, and one of their newer shows Leverage. What appealed to me about Leverage from the first time I saw it was the Robin Hood-like pretense, and the quirkiness of the five main characters. They are each memorable in their own way and add just enough to the show for it to be a hit ensemble cast. The show is premiering its second season on July 15th, and just in time the first season is being officially released on July 14th. This is the perfect time to pick up the first season and learn all about this show before it starts again, and for you fans to get a happy reminder of this adventure Ocean's Eleven-esque show.
Ryan Reynolds is GREEN LANTERN!
The Hollywood Reporter has announced that Ryan Reynolds has just been officially cast as Hal Jordan for the upcoming live action Green Lantern film…and I couldn't be more excited. Reynolds is perfect for the role. His average joe reactions and comic timing make this a solid choice.
In my opinion, Green Lantern can't hit theatres soon enough.
Stay tuned to ComicsOnline for more information on Green Lantern as it becomes available.
