ComicsOnline kicked off 2026 by reading a TON of comics. There’s a lot to talk about, and we wanted to highlight some of our picks for the week of January 28th, 2026.

DC K.O.: The Kids Are All Fight Special #1
Rating:

by Matt Sernaker
Official Synopsis: Jon Kent always wanted to be a Titan when he grew up, but now that he’s working alongside them in the effort to evacuate Earth, he didn’t think he’d be stuck babysitting young sidekicks! When the kids sneak off to enter the fray and stop Granny Goodness, Jon will have to show these young heroes the ropes so they can save the day and prove there’s no age requirement to being a superhero — and you won’t want to miss the SHOCKING finale!
Review: While the adults are off fighting in an intergalactic tournament to save existence as we know it, Superman (Jon Kent) has been tasked with looking after the youth of the DC Universe. Babysitting doesn’t go over well with this hero, but the importance of protecting the next generation of heroes becomes abundantly clear as Darkseid’s minions begin a new reign of terror. An unlikely World’s Finest team up with Batgirl (Cassandra Cain) leads to surprising adventure with even bigger changes ahead.
This particular assortment of youthful heroes was new and refreshing, and I love how the creative team brought all of the pieces together. This is yet another win for the DC K.O. event series.

Iron Man #1
Rating:

by Kevin Gaussoin
Official Synopsis: The unapologetic Iron Man is a once-in-a-lifetime hero — but the beating heart behind the armor is a once-in-a-century genius. Years ago, Tony Stark was knocking on death’s door, so he created the Iron Man armor to survive! What happens the next time death comes calling? What weapon does he create then? What if… someone else creates it first? These questions have haunted Tony for years, a ticking time bomb inside of him waiting to explode. Femme fatale Madame Masque has also asked these questions, and with the power of Advanced Idea Mechanics behind her… she’s ready to create the next great weapon. Welcome superstar JOSHUA WILLIAMSON as he makes his powerful return to the hallowed halls of Marvel, taking the reins of the Golden Avenger with Legacy Stormbreaker CARMEN CARNERO! This is classic super-hero storytelling in the MIGHTY MARVEL MANNER, just how you like it!
Review:
Joshua Williamson wanted to write about Tony Stark. You know Tony, he’s a hero. He’s a bitch, he’s a lover… He’s all those things in the Meredith Brooks song, and we wouldn’t want it any other way. Williamson saw this complicated conflicted character and realized that had things not unfolded the way they had, Stark could have easily slipped into becoming a villain like Obadiah Stane, Justin Hammer, or many of the other billionaire industrialist villains existing in and out of Marvel stories.
Williamson relaunches Iron Man with a new #1 to tell the tale of Madame Masque abducting Stark-level geniuses with the intention of forcing them to evolve into evil genius villains that Stark might have otherwise become. So what of Tony Stark? He’s stopped himself from becoming (or remaining) the villain multiple times. Can he rescue and reform these abductees before Masque and AIM have their way? Are there a full twenty issues in this story arc to bring us all the way to #700?
Iron Man #1 brings us back to the core of Tony Stark and what it means to recognize the path to villainy and instead turn away to become a true hero.

Power Rangers Prime #14
Rating:

by Matt Sernaker
Official Synopsis: A mysterious new Ranger arrives on the scene! The Prime Rangers face their biggest threat yet… and one of their own could be to blame. It’s a time for reunions as Jun returns from Eltar and Lauren comes closer than ever to discovering what happened to her family. But who is this second Red Ranger and what does he want? And will Orion’s and Rita’s magical mischief bring Orion’s past back to haunt him?
Review: A new player has entered the game! Although the Prime Rangers are feeling stronger than before, they will be put to the test when a familiar face from the ZEO era makes a shocking appearance. And what does this Ranger want with the newly minted Red Samurai Ranger Jayden? Find out this week on Power Rangers!
On a serious note, this creative team has a talent for seamlessly blending mythology into the series, and this “ZEO beginning” for Prime is no exception. It’s hard to believe that we only get two more issues of this series. Power Rangers Prime successfully captures the magic of the franchise, seamlessly delivering another chapter filled with action, mystery, and heart.
Lastly, the ZEO theme has been stuck in my head for DAYS. No regrets. ZEEEEEEOOOOO!

Bug Wars: The Spyder Wytch Special #1
Rating:

by Matt Sernaker
Official Synopsis: The bug war wages on in this extra-length special that burrows deep into the shadowy world of the Mytes — the insectoid warriors who fight, live, and die in the grass-stained trenches of The Yard. But this time, the story is spun from an even darker thread… through the many eyes of the Spyder Wytches of Wyrdweb — the most mysterious, seductive, and feared denizens of this twisted ecosystem.
Created by comics powerhouses JASON AARON (Thor, TMNT) and MAHMUD ASRAR (Conan the Barbarian, X-Men), and joined by breakout art phenom BALDEMAR RIVAS (DC’s Two-Face, Godzilla Vs. Kansas City), BUG WARS: THE SPYDER WYTCH SPECIAL is crawling with new lore, explosive action, and web-woven secrets that will forever change what you think you know about the Yard. And bee prepared for the return of the BUG WARS series later in 2026.
Review: I don’t know about you, but I can’t wait for the next volume of Bug Wars to begin! While we patiently await the main title’s return, the creative team has kindly provided us with a special adventure. Now my friends, this is not a filler my any means, but a visually entertaining (and occasionally shocking) dark trio of stories that are on par with the epic nature of all that we’ve read thus far. I love how this world continues to expand, and I’m in for the journey through the weeds and beyond.

The Guy in the Chair #4
Rating:

by Kevin Gaussoin
Official Synopsis: In the explosive finale, our heroes reel from betrayal, revelations, and dire injuries as they continue their valiant efforts to stop the Observatory’s hostile takeover plans for the world’s governments. The purpose of their mysterious government asset is revealed, and everything comes together with double crosses, triple crosses, and substantial property damage. No one said field work was safer than staying behind a desk.
Review:
Friend-of-the-show Hannah Rose May (Exorcism at 1600 Penn, Ghosts) and Guy-we-met-briefly-at-GalaxyCon Utkarsh Ambudkar (Marvel Voices: Avengers, Ghosts) collaborated to bring us what is clearly a sneaky pilot for a show we all want to watch. It’s a little bit Chuck but with more action. Clearly Ambudkar wrote himself into the script as Gatsby/Abhi, and as of The Guy in the Chair issue #3 we see that May has done likewise as Ulysses, but who have they dreamcast as Merlin? Is it Sonequa Martin-Green? ‘Cause I’m for it.
The Guy in the Chair is the spy thriller we didn’t know we needed. Issue 4 was an ideal wrap up to their first adventure and I look forward to more from this team in the future!

Arcadia #2
Rating:

by Kevin Gaussoin
Official Synopsis:
Life is looking good for young Halu. His relationship with Fix is growing, and he’s starting to get the hang of being a scavenger. On his latest hunt, he encounters a group of violent ferals, but he also uncovers treasure — an uberpill! What will he do with such a coveted item? Meanwhile, Halu’s mentor, Weedy, races against time to finish his secret project — a physical record of his memories — before his body fails him. Go deeper into the epic new adventure with the Miranda Brothers, creators of Blade Forger and We Live! This issue’s superstar variant is by Action Comics and Justice League Red artist Clayton Henry!
“We have no plans, only DREAMS”
Review:
Classically, “Arcadia” is an idyllic unspoiled natural wilderness, a peaceful pastoral existence. As people who have spent decades in Los Angeles can attest, Arcadia looks great from the inside the botanical park perspective, but as one ventures further out, we see the cracks and dangers manifest.
The Miranda Brothers bring us Arcadia from Ignition Press. This is a post-human Earth where another race has inherited what humanity’s wars have destroyed. But exactly who are these people and what happened to all the humans? So far we have hints but no solid answers. Our main protagonist Halu spends his days assisting his father’s best friend Weedy searching for supplies benefiting Weedy’s quest to beat the clock of mortality and solve some critical quantum puzzle.
The Miranda Brothers’ world building and pathos in Arcadia are exquisite. Arcadia #2 continues to up the stakes and unearth more questions than answers but we are loving every panel. The comic itself sets moods perfectly. We didn’t need an outro soundtrack to properly experience the last three pages, but they gave us one anyway. I’m not crying, you’re crying.
