DVD Review: Heroic Age, The Complete Series Part 1

“Not Sir, just Age.”

Along time ago, the advanced Gold Tribe called out to the galaxy, they wanted to make contact with the other races. Three tribes answered their call. The Sliver Tribe a human looking species that are nothing like humans, the Bronze Tribe, a insect species, and the Heroic Tribe, a tribe of super creatures that are almost extinct. Later another tribe answered the call, Humanity, that would come to be known as the Iron Tribe. Now Humanity is in danger, the Silver Tribe is trying to destroy them, and the only hope for the survival of Humanity lies in the hands of a wild boy named Age. Age is a human with the “Power of the Heroic”. Beings with the power of the Heroic Tribe are called Nodos. Each Nodos are bound to a tribe with a contract called Labors, the labors are a set of task that are set down for the Nodos to complete and are written by the Gold Tribe. Now the Iron Tribe might have a fighting chance against the Sliver Tribe, the only problem is that the Sliver Tribe has 4 Nodos and there are only a total of 5 Nodos in the Galaxy. Can humanity survive? Can Age defeat the other 4 Nodos? There’s only one to find out.

Highlights:
Like I said earlier, Age is a wild boy, he was raised by the crew of a spaceship that was lost a long time ago. When Age was still a child the crew of the spaceship died and Age was alone except for the the onboard computer. Lucky for Age the onboard computer of the spaceship was still working, since Age was still a kid he decided that the spaceship was his Mom because it was the only thing that had a voice other that himself. There was also a space squid that had delicious tentacles that could regenerate, it was also Age’s best friend, “Thank you for being so delicious” is what Age would tell it. When Age’s Mom was destroyed by the enemy, Age decided to help the Iron Tribe aboard the Argonaut and in command of Princess Dhianeila, and the story begins. Age and the other Nodos aren't the only ones with powers, several other characters have powers, now they do not come close to the powers Age has. Princess Dhianeila has the power of telekinesis, she can go in to a trance like state and send a hologram of herself into space and she can also read other peoples minds. There is a down side to her powers, if she gets to close to a man, she faints. The commander of the Argonaut has three kids who all have powers, two of them cane move things with there minds and the other one can teleport.

Overview
This is definitely a action anime, in just about every episode there is a battle. Every battle is basically the same thing, the Argonaut is attacked, they shoot lasers, Age attacks, they get away, and even though they do the same thing through most of the anime, the way they do it is still awesome and there is still time for a well developed story line. The Animation is average and reminds me a lot of Gurren Lagann and Gundam.

The extra are only textless songs and trailers, nothing more than filler. Of course there real reason to own this is the show itself and not the extras. I found this to be a great anime even though it was a bit repetitive.

ComicsOnline give Heroic Age: The Complete Series Part 1, 4 out of 5 Nodos.
