DVD Review: Superman The Complete Animated Series

The Man of Steel has made his way to DVD in a new Complete Animated Series collection! Now all of adventures from Batman: The Animated Series creator Bruce Timm are available for you to own in a sleek 7 disc set! Now you can relieve Superman's battles with Lex Luthor, Parasite, Metallo, Livewire, Toyman, Lobo, Brainiac, and Darkseid!
Episode Highlights:
"The Last Son of Krypton": Spoiler Alert: Krypton explodes!!! Ok you probably knew that already…but this three part episode features the origin of Superman and his journey to become the hero that we all know and love. This episode introduces us to Metropolis, Smallville, Lois, Jimmy, Perry White, Lex Luthor, John Corbin and more!
"A Little Piece of Home": Lex Luthor discovers the one thing that can stop Superman: Kryptonite! How can Clark stop Lex now?
"Stolen Memories": Brainiac returns! Superman learns of his past and Brainiac's relationship with his home planet. Superman must rush to save Earth and stop it from sharing the same fate as Krypton!
"The Main Man": Lobo comes to Earth in this two part episode. Now Superman and Lobo must work together to escape from an intergalactic zoo!
"Blasts from the Past": Kneel before Zod! When Superman discovers the Phantom Zone generator, Zod is accidently released from his prision. Can Superman stop three Kryptonians?
"World's Finest": Batman and Superman meet for the first time in this animated three part adventure. The two heroes must team-up to face against Lex Luthor and Joker! Mark Hamill, Clancy Brown, Tim Daly and Kevin Conroy are at their best in this episode and provided some of the most memorable interactions in the series.
"Brave New Metropolis": Lois gets thrown into an alternate dimension where Lex Luthor and Superman rule with an iron fist! Can Lois help change this world and convince Superman to become a hero once more?
"Little Girl Lost": Yay for mini-skirts! Superman's cousin Kara joins the series as a regular castmember. Clark finds his cousin in suspended animation and introduces her to Earth as his cousin. It doesn't take long for Kara to get into trouble and she joins her cousin in the fight against evil as Supergirl!
"In Brightest Day": Kyle Rayner (who looks a lot like Hal Jordan in this incarnation) joins forces with the Man of Steel to stop the renagade Green Lantern known as Sinestro. This episode features Kyle's origin and sets up his role in future Justice League Animated Series.
"A Fish Story": The King of Atlantis has been captured by Lex Luthor and now Superman must save our aquatic hero! This classic encounter with Aquaman also setup future Justice League stories as well.

Overall:
Let's be honest: everything Bruce Timm touches turns to gold. This series falls in line perfectly with the work done on Batman: The Animated Series and many of the stepping stones created in this series paved the way for characters and future stories in the Justice League and Justice League Unlimited Series. With Batman and Justice League Complete Sets already out, Superman is a perfect addition for anyone's collection. The new Bonus disc features a great documentary about Darkseid and is only available with this set.
ComicsOnline gives Superman: The Complete Animated Series 5 out of 5 animate series that we have always wanted in a complete set.
