DVD Review: Wolverine and the X-Men Volume 4- Fate of the Future

TO ME MY X-MEN!

When the future of mankind and mutantkind are at stake there is only one team that can save the day: Wolverine and The X-Men! Can our favorite mutant heroes find a way to help Professor X and stop the dystopian future ruled by the Sentinels from ever happening? Wolverine and the X-Men- Volume 4: Fate of the Future is the newest release from the hit animated series and is now available for you to own on DVD. This release contains 5 episodes featuring classic X-Men villains like Mojo, Sabertooth, The Silver Samurai and Master Mold!

"Stolen Lives"-
Mystique reappears in Wolverine's life in order to warn him of the coming danger to Christie, the daughter of Weapon X's Maverick. Wolverine is forced to team up with Mystique to recover his old friend's daughter and try to recover more information about his missing past. The two mutants get more than they bargained for when Sabertooth and Maverick (who has been brainwashed) show up. Wolverine is captured and taken to Weapon X and is reacquainted with Dr. Cornelius, one of the men behind his adamantium skeleton! This episode also features a cameo by Wolverine's clone, the girl known as X-23.

"Hunting Grounds"-
Mojo, Sprial and the Reavers return to take vengence against the furry elf known as Nightcrawler! Following the events of "Greetings from Genosha", Nightcrawler has been imprisioned by Magneto on Genosha because he knows too much about the Mutant Prisions beneath the island. He and Scarlet Witch are suddenly teleported from the island and captured for Mojo's entertainment. The two must fight to survive against Mojo's forces and a newly captured and feral Wolverine!

"Badlands"-
This episode focuses on Professor X's new team of X-Men. He and his team are on the run from a newly formed version of the Sentinels that seem to possess attributes similar to Wolverine.  Now they must escape to a mysterious area called "The Badlands" where even the Sentinels fear to tread. They eventually encounter Polaris, daughter of Magneto, who has become severely tramautized by the destruction of Genosha years before. Can Polaris help Professor X or has her mental stress caused too much damage?

"Code of Conduct"-
The X-Men have been captured and taken hostage by a mysterious figure from Wolverine's past known only as the Silver Samurai. Wolverine and Rogue must travel to Japan to save their friends and face off against an army of ninjas in the process. Wolverine's honor has been called into question and now he and the Samurai must fight to the death to regain their honor and the lives of the X-Men. This episode also features appearances by Wolverine's former love, Mariko.

"Backlash"-
The MRD has begun an unprecedented round-up of mutants and now the X-Men (with the help of Angel) must race against the clock to put an end to the Sentinel Project known as Master Mold. If they can succeed, then the disastrous future that Professor X has been fighting in will cease to exist. If they fail, mutants will be hunted down by this new wave of Sentinels! The X-Men also get some unexpected support from Quicksilver and the Brotherhood who wish to fight alongside our heroes to ensure the destruction of the Sentinels.

Overall:
Wolverine and the X-Men continues to be a great addition to the animated world of Marvel. The creative team has shown that they can make these episodes entertaining for new and old fans alike. Each episode features classic characters, great cameo apperances and classic dialogue that really set this series apart from its predecessors. The overall season story arc of "Days of Future's Past" has allowed the story to be told in a new and exciting way that hasn't been done before. Craig Kyle and Chris Yost have done a great job leading the way on this series and should be commended for their hard work.
