DVD Review: The Neighbors Season 1

On its surface, The Neighbors seems like just another gimicky sitcom bound to be filled with repetitious dumb lowbrow humor, but under that initial veneer we learn that The Neighbors might be one of the smartest comedies on TV. The Neighbors is a sonnet of buffoonery that holds up a mirror to American culture and shows us just how ridiculous and wonderful we really are.

It’s more of a psychological drama, really [as I’m noticing tends to be the theme among Spanish horror films (the writer/director and most of the production staff are Spanish) – Korean and Japanese horror films are known for their hair-raising, blood-chilling ghost stories, and Spanish horror films tend to be more about the characters – about the people and the emotion and the story to be told by the characters, superimposed over some moments of terror]. And at that, it excels.

Movie Review: Gravity

by Mary Anne Butler, Reporter/Photographer   Silence.  Complete and stunning silence.  Until some ass in the front of the theater rustles around for his candy and makes a snide comment.  I shush him.  He stays quiet, mercifully.  It’s very rare…
