Wizard World Philadelphia Comic Con 2014: Demi’s Con Diary Day 3

by Demi Moumas, Reporter

Wizard World Philadelphia Comic Con 2014 – Day 3, Sunday June 22nd:

Sadly this was the final day of the con. I was so sad to get up and go because I knew it meant that the con was ending. I ended up driving on Sunday, since parking near my brother’s place was free on Sundays. I walked ten blocks to the convention. Long walk, but it was worth it. I ended up following friends into the Eddie McClintock panel. Now I walked in as he was talking about how he got the part on Warehouse 13 and how he reacted to it. This man is a funny man and very down to earth and real. Despite time constraints and the like he would hug everyone that came to his booth and talk to them for about five minutes to get to know them a little bit. I now love him. After his panel, I drift in and out of the program rooms, but I found myself in the vendor hall again near artist alley buying prints. I ended up with 13 beautiful prints that I can’t wait to hang up in my apartment. I found cosplayers and people that I have seen over the weekend and talked to them about cosplaying. Seriously I need to learn how to sew because I’ve got ideas that need to be seen! (Mabs, poke)

Evan and Daniel – Quicksilver and Colossus – X-Men: Days of Future Past

The last thing I went to was the X-Men: Days of Future Past panel with Evan Peters and Daniel Cudmore moderated by Mo Lightning. Let me tell you after the panel, I walked by their autograph booths. I didn’t realize how much people liked Quicksilver or Evan, but boy it was a lot. It rivaled Sebastian’s line. I felt bad about it because Daniel didn’t get such a line and damn that man is cute and funny. Just because Colossus doesn’t talk a lot in the movies doesn’t mean he can’t look pretty.

Overall:

I loved how Wizard World Philadelphia Comic Con grew from last year. From the new and improved vendor hall to localized the programming into one building. I commend Wizard World in planning this 2014 year better than last year.

With all the new friends and people I took pictures of, I have high hopes for the Philadelphia area geekdom. If we can pull this many people to the area (including a girl from the Philippines that I met!), we should probably do this more often. I really enjoyed the fact that the Wizard World staff was cordial to me and the rest of the press. The only issue I had was that I would ask one staff would tell me something about where I could take pictures and another would say something else. That communication is what they need to work on. But moderators like Mo Lightning and Michael Smith were awesome and very nice. They both handled the audience well.

I honestly don’t even think I saw all of the vendor hall despite going through it multiple time. I do love the 13 prints I got though; one was even a Greg Horn limited lithos that made me drool with its prettiness. I made friends with some of the fans walking around and even got some people following me. Why would people follow me? Because I was wearing my badass graphic tees all weekend long. First the ComicsOnline Zombie Staff shirt which the first day got all the Walking Dead cosplayers to cheer, then I wore Supernatural The Road So Far shirt, and last the shirt that got me the most attention on Sunday, my Mass Effect N7 shirt. Lessoned learned, I don’t have to be a cosplayer to get people to stop me to take a picture, I just have to wear EPIC-LY AWESOME SHIRTS!
