Event Review: Columbia Comic and Toy Con 2015

Columbia Con 2015

by Joe Iconic, Reporter

Moon Key and I checked out the Columbia Comic and Toy Con 2015 on Saturday, April 11th. Billed as the “Biggest Little Collector’s Show in South Carolina” with almost two decades worth of a track record, it looked interesting.   We had been to some of the bigger conventions, and wanted to check out the smaller scene.   Bottom line? Totally worth it. The cosplayer contingent was small, but just as great as our tribe from AwesomeCon. We had considerable one on one time “discussing the craft” with digital artist/illustrator Gregbo Watson (Marvel Comics, Zenescope, Upper Deck). Local comic book stores like Cosmic Rays and Punk Monkey contributed their friendly staff and outstanding collections. Intimate and friendly, this show was perfect diversion as we get ready to jump into the larger conventions.

Moon Key, by the way, is the shorter one below! You may hear more from her soon!

Joe is a husband, #girldad, and Orphan of Apollo. He has drawn critters since riding the bus in 5th grade, and they have appeared on notes to loved ones, graffiti in a Latin classroom (sorry Rev. Dr Clark!), training slides for work, a newsletter in Alaska, and notes to his wife Tracy, who encouraged him to share them with the world. Contains pop culture references, stuff from the news, but mostly bad dad jokes.
