Event News: Heroes Comic Con (Brussels) Welcomes The Editors-in-Chief of Marvel Comics and DC Comics

by Mike Favila, Editor

I hadn’t gotten around to checking out the events here in Europe since we moved, but this caught my eye when I was biking around yesterday.  What a great lineup! I dig the mix of comic pros along with media guests.  Also, the pros attending are a mix of European and Americans, so there’s something for everybody.  This news in particular is pretty exciting:

Heroes Comic Con is pleased to bring together – for the first time in Europe – the editors-in-chief of Marvel Comics and DC Comics, on 24 and 25 September at Brussels Expo.

September 6, 2022

With C.B. Cebulski (Editor-in-Chief of Marvel Comics) and Marie Javins (Editor-in-Chief of DC Comics), Heroes Comic Con welcomes the two most important people in the world of comics.

Cebulski and Javins are responsible for the editorial line of the two largest American comic book publishers. Together, they help shape the future of Spider-Man, Batman, Thor, Superman, The Avengers, and The Justice League, among others, which have millions of readers and have been the source of some of the biggest movie hits of recent years.

At Heroes Comic Con, the new pop culture event organised by Heroes Belgium (which also includes FACTS and Made in Asia), the duo will take the time for a portfolio review. This is a first for Belgium and a rare occurrence. Young Belgian artists are encouraged to submit their work to these living legends. And if Cebulski or Javins select their portfolio, the artists will be invited for a one-to-one interview and receive personal advice. With a little luck, they may even get a job at Marvel Comics or DC Comics! More information about these portfolio reviews can be found on the Heroes Comic Con website.

In addition to discussing the portfolios, Cebulski and Javins will also participate in a panel discussion where they will offer tips and advice on how to work for Marvel and DC and answer questions from the audience. So this is a must-event for local artists and all comic book fans!

Heroes Comic Con will take place on 24 and 25 September at Brussels Expo.

On presentation of their ticket, visitors will have free access to Made in Asia, which will take place at the same time and location.

Other world-famous stars have already been announced as well, among which Caleb McLaughlin (Stranger Things), Matt Smith (Doctor Who) and Alyssa Milano (Charmed), who will take part in this pop culture extravaganza. Tickets & info: www.heroescomiccon.be/en.
