Official Synopsis:

With Kahless and the Red Path’s mission to conquer the universe looming over their heads, the Defiant crew must overcome their differences if they’re to prevent another massacre, and it’s the most unlikely of diplomats to convince them of as much.

Creative Team:

Writer: Christopher Cantwell
Artist: Angel Unzueta
Colorist: J. K. Woodward

You wouldn’t want to fight Worf on a good day, and you definitely don’t want to get in his way when our favorite Klingon is injured. After sustaining life threatening wounds at the hands of the Orion Pirates, Captain Worf must push through the pain in order to continue the quest to stop Kahless. Meanwhile, Spock (and the crew) must deal with the ramifications of a reassembled Lore, and the potential chaos that might (probably will) ensue as a result. If the impending threat of the Red Path wasn’t enough to put strain on Worf’s heart, the surprising return of Sela might put him over the edge…

Each new installment of Star Trek: Defiant has been an absolute joy to read. The creative team expertly balances the need to move the narrative along with incorporating amazing fan-service moments. The discussion between Lore, Ro, and Torres was one of the standout moments of the issue, along with the exchange between Spock and Lore. Who would have guessed that Lore’s chaotic nature would compliment the unique dynamics of this crew? The Trek characters and their universe are beautifully captured by Unzueta and Woodward, perfectly enhancing the stellar story.

As I eagerly await the next issue, I can easily say that Star Trek: Defiant is a series that fans of all ages would enjoy. I highly recommend that you add this, and the main Star Trek IDW title, to your pull list at your Local Comic Store.

(Managing Editor/Director of Media Relations) Matt interviewed MacGyver once (true story), and was invited on a submarine to the Arctic. It hasn't happened yet, but Matt hopes that some day he will get the call and he and Richard Dean Anderson will go off and have a wacky adventure.
