The Knight Terrors event continues throughout the Dawn of DC! Hal and Sinestro continue their respective battles in the nightmarish dreamscape created by Insomnia in DC’s Knight Terrors: Green Lantern #2

Official Synopsis:
As Hal Jordan is swallowed by the nightmare wave, Earth’s Green Lantern shows this new malevolent threat what a man with the willpower to overcome fear can do. Meanwhile, as Sinestro grapples with the terrifying new dreamscape he’s trapped in, we take a psychological roller coaster ride through his darkest fears-and most painful regrets.

Previously in Knight Terrors: Green Lantern #1:
Picking up moments from the ending of Green Lantern #2, Hal finds his plane going down under mysterious circumstances. Right as he is about to enter the cockpit and save the day, he finds himself whisked away to another place, another time (not that Another Place, Another Time)…his Father’s funeral! After a few creepy pages, Hal’s journey then takes him to Ferris Air on the day of Abin Sur’s death, only to find that events aren’t playing out as they should. The mental trip continues with a final stop on OA where Hal is confronted by twisted versions of the Guardians of the Universe and Parallax! Meanwhile, Sinestro gets a bit of time in the spotlight as the Knight Terrors crossover comes for him as well. Can he outrun his past and find a new path towards a brighter future?

Now in Knight Terrors: Green Lantern #2:
Hal confronts his past as Insomnia takes on the guise of Parallax! Despite his best efforts, Insomnia has struggled to impact Hal in the same way that he has impacted others across the DC Universe. In a truly epic moment, the new villain realizes the terrible mistake that he has made, as our hero channels these moments of “fear” to overpower his attacker. In a surprising role reversal, GL now has the bad guy on the run, working his way back through the previous nightmare scenarios. Hal also channels his inner-most Bruce Campbell for an Evil Dead inspired moment that will surely excite readers. With Insomnia expelled from his mind, Jordan comes back to Earth to resume his adventures with Jeremy Adams and team in Green Lantern #3.

Meanwhile, Sinestro wraps up his own battle against the nightmare villain as he is confronted by the challenges of his own past. The story poses a major question for the former GL: who does he wish to be when he overcomes this battle? Alex Segura and team have crafted an interesting look into the villain’s psyche, and it looks like the outcome of this tie-in adventure will have an interesting impact for Thal in the coming months.

Out of all of the Knight Terrors stories, the Green Lantern chapters have easily been my favorites. I know that there is always a bit of hesitation when it comes to diving into event tie-in issues, but Knight Terrors: Green Lantern #1 & #2 have proven to be impactful character-driven stories that are worth your time and money. “Are you smiling…?”, a.k.a the moment of terror on Insomnia’s face when he realized that he made a critical mistake with Hal, is a moment that I will not soon forget. Also, the “Aunt Lacey” line was another perfect Hal moment that was executed with flair. The artistic teams for both installments also deserve recognition, as they have designed some iconic visuals throughout these horror-inspired adventures. The covers alone make these issues worth getting, but the color choices expertly compliment the nightmarish panels.

(Managing Editor/Director of Media Relations) Matt interviewed MacGyver once (true story), and was invited on a submarine to the Arctic. It hasn't happened yet, but Matt hopes that some day he will get the call and he and Richard Dean Anderson will go off and have a wacky adventure.
