Movie Review: The Smurfs in 3D

If you think the new movie The Smurfs is just for kids, you might want to think again.  I admit, at times it’s annoyingly cheerful, but it acknowledges and even makes fun of its own cuteness at times.   There’s also the gratuitous substitution of the word “Smurf” for any other word, and let’s not forget the annoying, sticks in your head, Smurf song.  However, there are a few good reasons to look beyond all that, which I can sum up in three points.

SDCC 2011: The Venture Bros – Interview

ComicsOnline’s resident boy reporter Kroze (Superman’s “Friend”) was at Comic-Con 2011 to talk to Venture Brothers creators Jackson Publick and Doc Hammer about the new season and their upcoming 15-minute special. Check out the video after the break, in which Kroze and Doc Hammer start going steady, and the pair answer a variety of Kroze’s hard-hitting questions about their writing process, the future of the show, and, of course, dinosaurs. SDCC2011: Futurama – Panel Coverage

Futurama returns to Comic-Con this year with a panel full of laughs including Billy West (Philip J. Fry, Professor Zoidberg and more), Katey Segal (Leela), John Di Maggio (Bender), Phil LaMarr (Hermes), Maurice LaMarche (Calculon), Creator Matt Groening and Executive Producer David Cohen. 

The panel started off with a sneak preview of this season’s finale called “Reincarnation”.  While we only saw one third of this finale based on a like anime animation, the others will also be in different formats including 80’s videogames.

Power Rangers takes on Comic-Con 2011 with a full panel which included the entire cast of the newest series, Power Rangers Samurai, and was hosted by Paul Schrier (Bulk from Mighty Morphin Power Rangers and Power Rangers Samurai). The panel also included a sneak preview at the upcoming special: Power Rangers: Samurai – Origins!
