Blu-ray Review: Revolutionary Road

"Look at us. We're just like everyone else. We've bought into the same, ridiculous delusion." …That this movie isn't painful to watch?

Blu-ray Review: Saturday Night Fever

"You make it with some of these chicks, they think you gotta dance with them."

Saturday Night Fever was originally released in 1977. As I was a little kid at the time, and it was perceived as just some film about disco dancing, a pastime that was much-derided in my adolescence, I never got around to seeing it until now. That's kind of a shame really, as I might have really enjoyed it's themes as a teenager.

Game Review: Wallace and Gromit: The Last Resort

Wallace and Gromit are back for another episode of Wallace and Gromit's Grand Adventures from Telltale Games. Episode two, The Last Resort, retains the solid graphics of the first episode and utilizes many of the same characters in order to tell a mysterious tale of another venture gone wrong.

After plans for a day at the beach are scrapped due to inclement weather, Wallace constructs a beach resort in his flooded basement. The resort business turns out to be more complicated than expected, as Wallace deals with unsatisfied customers and Gromit is eventually forced to investigate suspicious behavior on the part of the guests. The story is fun, and transitions well between the four acts, with each chapter focusing on a different stage of the basement resort venture, with different objectives for the protagonists and the player. Ultimately, the story is a charming tale that offers up a lot of opportunities for puzzles.

Blu-ray Review: The Wrestler

As perfect as Mickey Rourke was as Marv in Sin City, his portrayal of Robin "Randy 'The Ram' Robinson" Ramzinski was just as ideal, yet this time placed in a world so real you can feel every blow that lands on Randy's steroid-addled achingly too-old-for-this-$#!% body.

DVD Review: Caprica

Now that Battlestar Galactica and Stargate Atlantis have ended, it feels like there isn't as much of a reason to watch SciFi channel anymore…but there will be a reason to watch the SYFY channel when it makes the rebranding jump because of new shows like Caprica.

There were a lot of questions about this new series that would take place 50+ years before the Battlestar Galactica saga that we witnessed for four amazing seasons. Everyone was worried that it wouldn't hold up to the high expectations that came with a prequel series being announced so soon after the current series ended. Thanks to NBC Universal, ComicsOnline has seen the pilot of Caprica and we can say with great assurance (and relief) that the pilot does hold up, and then some.

THERE WILL BE SPOILERS. This is your warning.

DVD Review: Lilo & Stitch 2-Disc Big Wave Edition

"Ohana means family, family means nobody gets left behind. Or forgotten." -Lilo

Aliens. Elvis. Kids. Family. Hawaii. Surfing. If you're a fan of any of these things, you will likely love Lilo & Stitch Which is now re-released in its blue-in-color but sadly standard definition only "2-Disc Big Wave Edition".

It seems that there's no Blu-ray announced as on the way, so it's likely safe to pick up this edition if you don't already have Lilo & Stitch on DVD on your shelf.

Blu-ray Review: Bolt

How do you know it's time to finally break time and make the switch to Blu-ray? When Disney's latest offering is released on Blu-ray before it's available on DVD*. It's like Disney's knocking on your thick skull and saying "Hello, are you in there? This is the future of technology calling. Nineteen ninety-six called and it wants it's DVDs back. You really need to give it up and just start watching movies and TV in HD with the rest of the world. Hello? Can you say 1080p and English 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio?" But being as though this is Disney we're talking about, they're nicer than that and *they even include the DVD version along with the 3-disc Blu-ray edition cause they know that life, like technology upgrades, is not always so simple.

Blu-Ray Review: Pinocchio 70th Anniversary Edition

When You Wish Upon a Star
Walt Disney's 2nd animated feature-length film debuted 70 years ago, but only now do we have the technology to appreciate it better than it's ever been seen before. With Blu-ray, now we can watch it at home in the highest resolution to date, 1080p, and listen to its classic songs in DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1 sound, which is likewise better than ever before. Like Bolt, which also was just released on DVD and Blu-ray, when you purchase the Pinocchio 70th Anniversary Edition on Blu-ray, you also get it on DVD. So for those of you who don't want to buy it twice or maybe you want the DVD to put in the minivan for trips with the kids, now your wish has come true.
