Blu-ray Review: The Office Season 5

The Complete Fifth Season of the Office is now available on Blu-ray!

Michael, Dwight, Jim, Angela, Pam and the rest of the gang are back for more crazy office antics. Following the shocking cliffhanger of last season, things get a bit more tricky as the love triangle between Angela, Dwight, and Andy gets much more interesting. Michael and Holly are also building a new relationship until things hit a surprising snag. Jim and Pam are dealing with the problems of a long distance relationship while Pam attends art school in New York. Oh, and with the arrival of Charles Minor as the new Vice President of Dunder Mifflin, Michael decides to quit and start his own paper company with the help of Pam and Ryan! Needless to say, things are definitely hectic around the office.

Episode Highlights-
"Weightloss" The entire office gets in on the weight loss fad and tries to compete against other branches! Things start heating up with Holly and Michael and their relationship keep getting better. Michael rehires Ryan as a temp to replace Pam while she is attending Art School in New York.

"Crimeaid" Holly and Michael's date leads to the office being left unlocked…The next day they return to find that the office has been robbed! Meanwhile, Pam and Jim hit a few snags in the relationship and the two seem to be drifting apart.

"Employee Transfer" Holly is transfered to Nashua after their relationship is exposed to corporate. Holly, Michael, and Darryl embark on a drive to help Holly move her things, but the couple soon realize that they will not be able to maintain a long distance relationship.

"Frame Toby" Toby returns from Costa Rica and Michael starts to lose it. He tries to imply that Toby has a drug problem and plants drugs at Toby's desk! Jim makes a surprising move and purchases his parent's house in order to make Pam happy.

"Lecture Circuit"- Since things are actually going well at the Scranton Branch, corporate sends Michael to all of the various branches to talk about his success. While on the trip, Michael sees a very pregnant Karen! She has moved on with her life and this upsets Michael, who then decides to go see Holly! Pam is encouraging him and the two travel to Nashua but learn that Holly has moved on…or has she?

"Michael Scott Paper Company" Michael quits Dunder Mifflin after he is passed over for the VP position, and with some help from Pam and Ryan, the Michael Scott Paper Company is founded! Pam and Ryan are in charge of sales and Michael runs the operations. The trio set out to steal some of the business from the competition and actually ends up making a dent! This episode also features an alternate opening sequence featuring Michael's new company.

Overall-
This season was off to a bit of a slow start, but things really started to kick in when Michael decides to leave Dunder Mifflin to start his own company. I am glad that the Angela, Dwight, Andy love triangle is over, it did feel like it was getting a bit stale towards the end. I enjoyed how the writers were able to reunite Ryan with the cast and make it not feel forced. I really enjoyed the relationship between Michael and Holly and I hope that we get to return to that plot in the future.

ComicsOnline gives The Office- Season Five 4 out of 5 reams of paper that I would buy from the Michael Scott Paper Company!
