PS3 Game Review: X-Men: Destiny

Choose your powers. Choose your allies. Choose your destiny.

by Caleb Paullus, Video Game Editor

Choose your limited powers. Choose you allies which don’t really seem to make a difference. Sort of choose your destiny.

That’s really what the tagline should be for the game, but if they did that, it probably wouldn’t sell better than it is. Let me start off by saying I’m a BIG fan of Marvel, but I’m not a fanboy that will fall on my knees, worship and adore anything that has the Marvel name slapped on the package. X-Men: Destiny was a very frustrating game to play.

Firstly, it is not a true RPG: your tech tree for powers is not very advanced. Playing through the game, I expected that leveling up would make a big difference when coming across the same type of bad guys. It really didn’t.

TV Review: The Walking Dead – “Bloodletting” Episode 202 Advance Look

EPISODE 202: “Bloodletting”
Coming to the aid of another, Rick discovers a possible safe haven. Shane must go on a dangerous mission to get badly needed medical supplies.

by Kevin Gaussoin, Editor-in-Chief

Last weekend The Walking Dead shambled back into our living rooms and our hearts (and braaains). The 90-minute premiere led our group of survivors down the road to ruin, where they hit a dead end. As you no doubt know already, one of their number  didn’t return after a zombie chase, and everyone worked together to search. Of course this led to the explosive cliff-hanger ending where a beloved character gets quite a dear surprise.

Beware minor spoilers!

ComicsOnline had the opportunity to sit down with J.G Quintel (Creator, Mordecai), William Salyers (Rigby) and Sam Milton (Benson, Pops, Muscle Man) of The Regular Show. While nothing was revealed for upcoming episodes, it was more so an inside look at censorship and the creation process.

NYCC2011: Archie Comics: Sonic and Megaman Panel

Ian Flynn (writer), Patrick “Spaz” Spaziente (artist), Paul Kaminski (editor), and Mike Pellerito (Archie President) of Sonic the Hedgehog and Megaman comics sat down with ComicsOnline at NYCC 2011, submerging us into the recent and upcoming comics, graphic novels, and collections. There are many awesome things in store for new and old fans, so keep reading after the jump!

Megaman was spoken about briefly, mainly recapping and explaining recent comics. They went over the third story arc: Megaman 2 based with Ben Bates as the artist. They decided to extend the battle scenes due to fans saying that the first battles with the masters were over too quickly – frankly, I agree. There is also a possibility that they will be making comics out of the X games since Ian has a plan for every Megaman game. Especially Megaman Soccer.

NYCC2011: Venture Bros Panel and Press Conference Coverage

“We have Nothing for you. So much Nothing, especially for you.” ~Venture Bros Creators to us. And that is exactly what most of the panel was. Doc Hammer and Jackson Publick, the creators of Venture Bros, were highly unprepared, except for the questions that were submitted to them. This doesn’t mean it was a “bad” panel, it was entertaining, and despite there being several off-topic derailings by the two,  there was also some information given about the actual show.

NYCC2011: Venture Bros – Doc Hammer’s Most Hated Words/Phrases

Over at NYCC Venture Bros Panel, Doc Hammer and Jackson Publick had so much Nothing to announce. So much, just for us. While we were being entertained by Doc’s stories and the comedy workings of these two, they were derailed when discussing how Doc hates certain words. He even had a list of them, and was kind enough to read it to us! So, boys and girls, don’t forget to try and use these when you’re talking to him:

·         Ridonkculous

·         Hot mess

·         Literally when it’s not used appropriately

·         Totes (as in totally)

·         IMO and IMHO

NYCC2011: Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning Preview Panel

Get ready to conquer a new kingdom, because Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning is coming out to hit your consoles in the face with fantastical awesomeness. Of course, by fantasical awesomeness, I mean logic and sense-making. For a lot of fantasy fans, this is a wet-dream come true.

The game is a single-player RPG, centering around the Well of Souls: a sort of resurrection machine. Up until the creation of the Well of Souls, resurrecting the dead was not possible, and its sudden appearance affects the world greatly (the NPCs are drastically affected, shown by their in-game dialogue). The player is the first life form resurrected by the Well of Souls, and is left to explore the world they left behind through new eyes. The player’s actions affect gameplay, the environment, and future quests.

NYCC2011: Thursday Recap

New York Comic Con, currently being considered The East Coast’s answer to San Diego Comic-Con opened its doors late Thursday afternoon to the general public. For the first time ever, the con has expanded by a whole day, allowing people with 4-day , VIP, Press, or Professional badges, a special 3 hour look into the massive Exibit Hall (very much like how SDCC does their yearly Wedensday “Preview Nights”), with a wide range of exibitors… All the big heavy hitters were here in full force: DC, Nintendo, Sony, Microsoft, FUNimation, Activision, Marvel, and many, many others, although something felt different about the hall.
