Gift Guide 2012: Jayden’s Top 5 Interactive Star Wars Items

by Jayden Leggett, Assistant Editor

Star Wars fanatics: if you aren’t one yourself, it’s still a pretty safe bet that you know at least one person who is somewhat obsessed with George Lucas’ geek-tastic universe. Let’s just say that you are planning on buying said friend a Star Wars related gift for Christmas, but don’t want to buy them just another useless ornament that will gather dust on a display shelf. Why not get them one of these awesome goodies that are interactive, useful and oozing in Star Wars style?

Death Star Magnetic Bottle Opener

The title says it all, really. It’s a bottle opener – in Death Star form. Why destroy planets when you can demolish your choice of beer? It’s also magnetic, so it can be stored on the door of your favorite intergalactic bar fridge, ready for your next session. Those more inclined to follow the path of good instead of succumbing to the powers of the dark side may wish to seek out the Millennium Falcon version instead.

Lightsaber Chopsticks

Why use a fork when you can use the force? Keep honing your Jedi skills while you chow down – multitasking at it’s finest (and coolest). Available in a variety of styles, including Yoda, Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker and more.

Lightsaber SFX Flashlight

Is having a flashlight designed like a lightsaber really necessary? No, but is it super-awesome? Hells yeah! Featuring a full-sized replica hilt, bright LED lights and the classic “whooshing” noise when it is turned on, the recipient of this gift will constantly be looking for excuses to turn out the lights and fire up this bad boy. Like the chopsticks, there are also a variety of these flashlights available.

R2-D2 USB Hub

This four-port USB hub is fun and practical, especially for gadget lovers who are constantly running out of ports on their computer due to their large amount of electronic devices. Boosting the fun factor are the classic R2-D2 it makes. Grab one of these babies and you’ll spend less time computing and more time plugging in your devices, again and again and again.

Inflatable Remote Controlled R2-D2

Last and by no means least, this is the one item on this list that no true Star Wars fan should be without. What could be more fun that controlling your very own droid? How about the fact that even if you steer it over bumps or down stairs, it always pops itself back upright thanks to a special weighting system, meaning that it can never be accidentally knocked over!

Audio visual multimedia extraordinaire (at least in his own mind), Aussie Dave dragged Jayden into this glorious den of geek pop culture, and it's gonna take more than what you can offer to drag him away. Unless you bribe him with Ninja Turtles related merchandise... then all bets are off.
